I have a wii i'm setting up for a friend with a bunch of kids. The older kids play black ops and the other ones play everything but that. They aren't interested in a hard drive so disc loading is how this will be setup. I intend on making a wad of the current FileTrip Download Link neogamma so it's easy for them. Black ops requires a cIOS with base 57 and that's in slot 250. Neogamma is set to use just 249 right? Is there a way to edit neogamma so it will use slot 250.

I thought about using slot 250 as the system menu through FileTrip Download Link priiloader but I'm not sure it will handle all typical 249 games properly.

Ideas or suggestions would be great. Thanks in advance.

I really would recommend stressing the advantage of USB Loading. It will be the easiest to configure, use, and may even prolong the Wii's life as the Kids don't have to touch the Wii.

If USB Loading is a definite no...Well as much as I hate to ever recommend it, you can always install Darkcorp and just load the backup discs from the Wii's disk channel.

why not just install a base57 cIOS to slot 249?

or better yet, u can try using the new NeoGamma IOS Switcher - A Mod by PabloACZ, which allows u to select cIOS slots 245-250
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=QFV7D2Y1

but yea, definitely better to go with neogamma than darkcorp for backup disc loading - but usb-loaders are better than both biggrin.gif

Will a cIOS with a 57 base handle most games?

Thank you very much for the link to the IOS switcher neogamma. That is exactly what I was looking for.

Any idea why wiipower doesn't add this as default?

If not you can install a different cIOS to another slot to use when loading games with that FileTrip Download Link neogamma mod.

Yes, a cIOS with base 57 should be able to handle most games.

You can also hex edit the FileTrip Download Link Neogamma cfg file to change what IOS it uses (if you wanted one that wasn't 245-250)

Thank you very much for all the input. I decided to put the cIOS with a 57 base into slot 249. Does anyone know games off the top of their head that will only work with a base of 56?

Base 56 - Compatibility with most games and slightly faster read timing. Definitely use this for games with microphones and Wii Speak.
Base 57 - Compatibility with many games. Definitely use this with Call of Duty: Black Ops. It is also helpful for some people for old games like Twilight Princess.

Base 56 works fine for old games, including Twilight Princess. Only games that use a headset (Conduit 2, MW3, and Black Ops) need base 57.

MW3 and BO needs base 57 to load at all :P
So you dont really have a choice there.

And those games use a headset. As far as I know, only IOS57 has the drivers for it.
