Edit: Several people blame the WiiTARD release for this issue. So please double check which release you are using. Also make sure to use a cIOS that's DL compatible, rev17, 19 and 20 should be fine, as well as Hermes cIOS.

Edit2:How to check if the used release is broken:
QUOTE(Tanas @ Sep 2 2010, 04:31 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
If you want to check if your copy of Metroid is ok, using WiiScrubber extract the movie "dm03to04.sfd" (this is the baby's cry cutscene) and play it using VLC and if the movie freezes and doesnt play until the end then the copy you have is more than likely bad.
I tried this on the WiiTard release and the movie froze at the exact same point as it does in the game, the movie plays fine when tested using a working copy.
[...]

In order to find out what's going on, we need more information, so i want this from everybody:
1. Did it freeze for you at the Baby's Cry Cutscene? If it freezed on other cutscene, please describe it here.
2. Which filesystem did you use? Or did you use a disc?
3. Which cIOS did you try? Please only post the cIOS your loader actually used. There's no point in writing about Hermes and Waninkoko in CFG for example, if you have both installed, but don't tell CFG correctly to use the one or the other.
4. Which loader did you use? Which revision?
5. Which release did you use?
6. Did you remove the update partition manually? If yes, how?
7. Please describe the issue: Does it with the picture on screen? Black screen? "An error occurred"?

My current suspect is something like FAT/NTFS + .iso/.wbfs file + Waninkoko cIOS.

In order to increase the readability please answer like this:
QUOTE
1. No
2. WBFS
3. cIOS56rev20
4. NeoGamma R9 beta 44
5. I don't know
6. No
7. -

TEXT

This is just an example, not an actual test result!

When posting several results, please post all 7 points again if the issue is different.

Thanks.

For those with the freeze in the
Warning! Spoiler inside.
scene, look at this:

1) Works Fine With:
2) WBFS files on FAT 32.
3) cIOS56 rev20b (Wanin)
4) CFG USB Loader 58 release
5) ind
6) What? So obviously no.
7) Just enabled 002 fix.

Just to be clear, I updated the system via "Waninkoko 4.3E Update" doing a network installation.
Uisng a Samsung S2 500 GB HD.

I wondered what was meant by Baby's cry - and because it all plays fine, I suspect it's one of the many cust scenes at the start of the game... the one just before she lands on the ship that you begin to explore at the start of the game.

It would be nice if the USB loaders and DVD loaders could utilise an online database of settings and automatically change the options for launching a game to the ones recommended. If the Wii doesnt have the right software, it would be nice to suggest what should be installed in order to allow the game/backup to work correctly.

I think CFG has some cIOS warnings already if you use a really bad cIOS. Other than that, you would need cIOS warnings for Monster Hunter Tri and the instrument games when using an incompatible cIOS(base IOS38 or 57 for example). But the options should be the same for 98% of games: Don't force a video mode, 002 fix and well that's it for most games as long as it's from the same region or you have a good tv(NTSC SDTV = bad). Such a database would be nice, no question, but i don't think you can see how much work it would be. I'm in contact with team CFG and we talk about this from time to time. And we know that people want this, so there's no need for more questions. Well unless you have some good ideas, then please post them!

Can you please try CFG and/or NeoGamma before changing the installation? And what WBFS manager did you use? I'm still using an ancient one that doesn't have any options to remove anything from the game, i think it always removes the update partition and removes the data that's not used(srubbing).

Sorry that doesn't say what cIOS you are using.

Also if it's a loader issue and you don't try another loader, you might get really mad eventually.

2. WBFS File on Fat32 USB HDD
3. waninkoko 249, hermes 222 latest
4. FileTrip Download Link USB Loader GX and FileTrip Download Link Configurable USB Loader 222
5. NTSC Multi 3 ******
6. No
7. Cutscene freeze frames and wii lockes up. every time at the same place. I am not sure if its the Fat32 fault (layer break?) or if its an issue with compatibility. i also checked a new file which is currently loading, its said to work better than the one i ahve, which seems to be a underdumped version...

I´m almost at the end (i think wink.gif ) and it freezes after i´ve beaten the Mother Queen in a cutscene tried it now with cIOS rev20 base57 and hermes cIOS v4 base38 and it freezes at the exact same point. Well could be that the non-Scene release isn´t complete too (Anyone had the same problem !?)
I use the non-Scene Release the PROPER one is anyway underdumped.

Thanks for the results so far. But the cIOS information isn't accurate from some people. When mentioning which cIOS is used, important is: Wanokoko's or Hermes' cIOS, which revision of that cIOS, and which base IOS is used(where it can be chosen)
There's info you can leave out, when it's clear what you are using: IOS222->Hermes, cIOSXrevY ->Waninkoko

So for something like:
Waninkoko's cIOS rev 20, base IOS56, slot 249, you can use something like this: cIOS56rev20 as short form, as it's known that is Waninkoko's cIOS, and the slot doesn't matter as long as your usb loader reaally uses that slot.
Hermes cIOS V5 slot 222 -> Hermes V5 or IOS222v5
Hermes cIOS V4 slot 222 base IOS37+38 merged -> Hermes V4 37+38 or IOS222 V4 IOS37 merged with IOS38 (i don't know what's the proper short form for this!)
Waninkoko's cIOS rev17 base IOS38 slot 249 -> cIOSrev17 (rev17 doesn't allow to select the base, so it's always 38 on rev17)

But info like "249", "222", cIOSrev20 slot 249, Hermes V4, IOS222 V4 is incomplete

PS: I think i will talk to team CFG to write a "cIOS checker" that will tell you which cIOS you have installed where, with names team CFG and i can agree on.

1. Freeze at Ridley Cutscene

3. 249, 222
4. USB Loader GX and Configurable USB Loader 222
5. latest (both)
6. No
7. Cutscene freeze frames and wii lockes up. every time at the same place. I am not sure if its the Fat32 fault (layer break?) or if its an issue with compatibility.

The layer break only matters when burning, it's not part of the .iso file.
