I was wondering if there is a translation for
Summon Night Craft Sword Monogatari: Hajimari no Ishi (Summon Night sword craft story 3)
If not how would I go about unpacking and doing it myself

I think there was a translation project but it died without releasing anything.
Anyway, I started working on this a few days ago and I've uploaded a patch. No dialogue or anything really fancy. It fixes up the menu so it takes out some of the guessing and memorising. It also renames some of the weapons, spells and items. It's not complete yet, but it's mostly just filling in the names of things now. If anyone wants to help that would be great! I've also started a topic on gamefaqs. Not sure which is preferred. http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/930200-summ...ari-no/55142306 D |

Version 5 of my translation patch is released. The in-game menu,
items, spells, etc. are all translated, so you should be able to play through the game intelligently. Dialogue has not been translated. http://rapidshare.com/files/401492646/sncsm3v5.zip.html http://www.sendspace.com/file/pyznsf Main thread seems to be the gamefaq forum. |

I find it funny that the thread on gamefaqs is gone now though. Incidentally, I'm DBDjango on there, just so you know. Glad you made the patch though Ritchburn.

Glad you all are enjoying the patch.
In other news, I found out enough about how the script encoding works to get a script dump. Manipulating it isn't easy though, but small things like the teleporter dialogue can be changed. It's all pretty manual and tedious right now though. |

Thank you for patch. This game is one of my favorites, and I was wanted translation for years. Even though I know Japanese I almoust can't read it, only talk. So still need translation for games.

I haven't really been checking this thread recently,
nor working much on the patch, so v5 is basically the latest version. As I have said before, I figured enough about the script encoding to get a script dump. I haven't figured out how to resize encoded strings, which is essential to overhauling the dialogue. This should be possible given some time, some luck, and lots of patience. Anyway, the project is currently stalled but not quite dead yet. I would love to have a full translation too, and even just the first day or two would be terrific! |

The last post got me working on this thing again.
A teaser (sncsm3v6-pre1.ups): http://www.sendspace.com/file/eq7cs9 This is just a demonstration of some dialogue translation. I've only done the first segment (from the introduction to the first battle) and the fishing minigame menu. Basically the tools to manipulate the dialogue are there now, so given enough time and some creativity with the compression, a full translation patch should be possible. Fingers crossed. (Translators are always welcome!) |
