Sweet guide, clear and precise.
I have one question though. How would I go about doing the language fix (I want to get an acekard for my french nephew)? Would I do it before or after the danny phantom fix? I've heard of acekards bricking when doing the language fix after the danny phantom update so I'm not sure what to do.

In step 5, you should add a warning to not put the loader in the ak2loader folder. This is what nearly got me when I was setting up my Acekard.

Awesome guide. yay.gif

Do I need to do step 8 (really should be step 7; you skipped a step) if I have a DSLite and don't give a damn about 1.4 crap? Is the update JUST fixing the 1.4 thing or is it an entire update?

EDIT: Sorry, just read the top part. Eh, if I ever do get a DSi (HIGHLY UNLIKELY), then I have my bro's dslite to update my cart with.

I was wondering about that too since I didn't do it and have been playing games on my DS lite just fine.
QUOTE
Even if you intend to use your AK2i with a DS Lite, you should still update the firmware incase your DSL breaks and you later replace it with a DSi.

Is this the only reason to update? The official update doesn't really do anything else, does it?

It's best to, i've done it on all of mine but it's upto you. There are often people posting on here they've brought a DSi to replacing a sold or broken DSL, they then post begging people to suggest a way to update with just a DSi. People then give the response along the lines of "why the heck didn't you update the cart when you had a DSL?"

There was a step 7: but I thought it might be to much BS, but i've added it back.

If you're buying a new cart, it shouldn't need it. If you want I could have a look at mine and see if it needs the language update. Generally the DSi update is tame, it doesn't do any real damage and is recoverable if something goes wrong. I've no idea about the language fix, but first make sure you actually need it and you download the right one, you can get the HWID by pressing (start) in AKAIO and going to help. I'd also run it before the 1.4 FW update

I know, I remember reading your post. I have added a warning about the ak2loader folder.

i would love it if you created a new gbatemp wiki for updating the ak2i. upload your images to pix.gbatemp so they are there forever and then get it all set up. i would love to link to that from the FileTrip Download Link akaio wiki. think it would be something you are interested in doing?

i ask for this because threads get lost, archives get corrupted, etc. the wiki is easier to maintain and everyone can update it incase something changes in the future. your whole guide is pretty good and well thought out. if you organized it correctly in wiki syntax it would be a nice addition to the gbatemp wiki database.

pm me if you want i can try to help out with formatting and such.

its pretty easy. i didn't know it at all either and taught it to myself in a few short hours. you could copy/paste the FileTrip Download Link akaio wiki and use that as a guide. also i think you should contact 'somerandomguy' and get him involved. he wrote the 'how to' guide sticked at the top of this forum.

i think between the both of you we could see something spectacular.

instead of getting it sticked, it should be turned into a wiki. there is no reason to have more than one thread sticked, which is why it would be great to see a joint effort in building a wiki with the same information.
