Quick Question unsure.gif

I used N00bwarrior7's "The Backup Suite" (version 3 not final) to softmod my wii. Gamma was installed as a channel by using his all-.wad installer. That version doesn't have the 002 fix. How do I update to the new version with the 002 fix (I see that it's a dol, not a wad), and do I need to uninstall/remove the old one?

send me a PM for the link to Big Moe's Installer v3 and it does have the 002 fix in it wink.gif

Quick Query biggrin.gif

Is there a backup loader that doesn't need me to format my HDD as WBFS.
As in can I use a standard filesystem such as NTFS or FAT32?

What are the benefits of WBFS?

The answer im afraid is no. All the USB Loaders use this filesystem.
WBFS has no use outside of running backups on the Wii so I guess its benefits are pretty limited.
If your concerned that you don't want to use up an entire hard drive for a WBFS filesystem that isn't supported elsewhere, then I suggest you create a partition on your drive.

By doing this you could potentially have 50% of your drive ready to boot isos with the USBLoader (a WBFS parition) and the other 50% for other stuff such as movies and junk (a NTFS or FAT32 partition). This is how I'm using my HDD.

If you need help doing this let me know and I'll try and help you out.

I was just hoping I could use my current 120gb iPod as a external HDD, but its formatted in NTFS IIRC.
Problem is if i created a WBFS partition then I won't be able to use my iPod as a music player. frown.gif

Thanks anyways

Yeah, I doubt weather your ipod would allow you to create a partition or that it would work as a music player if you could.
I don't know though. There is a chance music might still play if you created a partition. Its at least worth researching.

I am an extreme noob when it comes to USB Loader, but I can find my way around pretty well for the most part, so hopefully I will get this down rather quickly.

I would like to use the Cover Flow USB ISO Loader by Beardface or Coverflow7 USB Loader, by Don Killah and Cdreams. The question is, do I need to follow the Tutorial to using USB Loader v1.1 and FAQs, or do these programs come with everything I need?

Thanks for the info.

After reading these forums, what I actually want to do is get bootmii on (I've installed HBC) and use NeoGamma R2 (unless I'm mistaken, it's the most up-to-date disc loader?). I think I'm short a few of the newer IOS's, and want to also update. How do I go about this (i.e. do i have to uninstall "The Backup Suite" first [if so, I no longer have the wads unsure.gif ]?)?

Can just install the newer cIOS rev10 (that is, will it just replace whichever one was installed via The Backup Suite), and then use ???? to get the missing IOS files (go to menu 4.0U, using gecko os and a recent game, dunno how to do this really).

I've been reading, but it's a lot to grasp blink.gif

I'm raging so hard right now - there's Backup Loader Gamma with the 002 fix (which I want to use, which is in my Homebrew stuff) but then I've got the Backup Loader channel (which is just plain old Gamma .3, with autoboot) Pardon me for being so vague, but

I've got a channel that autoboots Gamma 0.3
But on my SD card there's a Gamma 0.3 w/ 002 fix

How would I make that one boot via the channel on my system menu?

Hi i'm generally new to the wii hacking scene,

i first updated my wii to 4.0E as i had no intention of hacking it,
i waited for Bannerbomb to be released and i used it with a HackMii install of HBC DVDx and BootMii,
next i found a guide to install cIOS when you had already updated to 4.0, and the cIOS rev 10 updater seems to work fine as well,
i then got the latest Waninkoko 1.5 SD/USB loader on my SD card and popped it in,
i partitioned one of my external HDD's to create a primary partition of 50GB and formatted it using AlexDP's tool,
i also loaded a PAL backup of MarioKart on it using AlexDP's tool,

I've been messing around all day now and everytime the SD/USB loader starts to read my HDD it will say:
"Mounting device please wait...
(30 second timeout)"
And do nothing, i dont have any other HDD's to try this with,
again i'm new to this and i believe i've tried my best to inform myself using google as i got this far,
any help here would be much appreciated smile.gif

Update:
I used cIOS installer rev 9, this didn't solve the process, i tried another USB port, no luck,
i downgraded my wii to 2.0e, then installed cIOS rev 10, no result, rev 9, no result, 2 other usb loaders, no result,
now upgraded back to 4.0e using waninkoko's upgrader, installed cIOS blabla everything,

conclusion: it HAS to be the HDD, using another small usb stick doesn't make it timeout,
i ordered a 16GB usb flash key, let's see what happens next week or so..

Is there any way to install games that were patched with Waninkoko's backup creator (I think the one that was released at about the same time as his loader was leaked)? If you can't, is it possible to "unpatch" an .iso? That'd be pretty neat, although I doubt that you can.

Maybe someone should just yell at me to not run any more .isos through it, instead.

What are these game channels I'm seeing? And by that I mean like, in one of the WBFS managers I have, you can make a game channel from an ISO, and it gives me a boot dol for the HBC, but I don't understand what it does. When I tried it, all it did was boot the disc in my Wii.

I thought it was going to give me a wad that redirects to my USB drive automatically to boot that game, which would be quite helpful.

I have a question, I haven't done anything like this.

If I install the IOS35 rev 10, Will my Wii still be able to update/function normally?

Can I even do this if the Wii is updated?

How can you tell if your Wii is hackable with soft modding. My serial number is LU557. Can it be hacked?

How exactly to I install USBloader GX as a channel? At the minute I'm launching it through the HBC, and I'd rather launch it from the Wii's menu using that pretty banner smile.gif.

Thanks.

I've got backup loader and homebrew channels installed. I followed the tutorial exactly I am fairly certain. Anyway so I take my memorex dvd-r backup of exciteboxs put it in, start up backup loader and... black screen with a gamma logo and a little green icon at the bottom at which point I have to reset my power off my wii to get it off the screen. I believe this is the main page of Gamma but the menu doesn't ever load. Nothing else happens, my first thought was that I had a bad burn but the disc never seemed to spin and everyone else seems to be getting error messages with their bad burns I get nothing. What's that deal? Thanks in advance.

The Tutorial I Followed is Here.

i just got my usb hdd and games to work with my wii

the only problem is it seems to crash on me about 3 minuetes after i load the homebrew app. if i start the game it doesnt crash ive seen no problems (only punchout ive played). so since it crashes in 3 minuetes i can't install games onto my hdd. ive tried diffrent backup loaders and cios rev 9 and rev 10. and 2 diffrent sd cards. so its a hard drive problem im sure. im using wd anywere backup here is a link http://store.westerndigital.com/store/wdus.../catid.13093000
