hey all

recently new to Wii i bought it last year, recently finding out about softmodding.

I'm currently running V4.3 it already came with it,It's PAL..

what would be the best software to softmod it?
would i need a actual game disc to do it? to play backed up games from a HD

Use ModMii. There is a link in my signature.

Well, someone suggested that I just go ahead and update to 4.3, and go from there. Yet every time I try and update my wii, I get the dreaded 32004 error code. I've done everything possible to allow my wii to update itself, but no dice. I'm not really sure what other exploits are out there that may work for this stubborn wii.

Well "someone" is an idiot, lol. There is no reason to update past 4.1, it will just give you fewer options.

Make sure that you don't have a private folder on your SD card before copying Bannerbomb over.

The SD card has a clean FAT32 format on it with no files. The only files that I've put on it have been the bannerbomb versions that I've talked about a couple posts ago, and the latest bootmii 0.8

I suggest a 2GB Sandisk card. Stay away from SDHC. You don't need a game.

Sandisk has had perfect compatibility for me...and high storage capacity. And you can use it for more things if you don't wanna keep it in your wii

I'm just stating common knowledge.

I've been out of the hacking game for awhile now, I have a Wiikey Modded Wii also set up with a USB Loader. That's working great and I haven't touched my Wii in awhile.

I have a friend who wants me to hack her Wii and I'm doing her the favor. Got her up and running with Letterbomb, Bootmii, PriiLoader. Using FileTrip Download Link ModMii I prepared and installed all the wads and cIOS 236 patched.

I figured thats all I have to do to get burned discs working. When I put in some of my burned discs, they come up in the channel just fine, but when I run them I immediately get an eject disc, restart message, got it on 3 games, I doubt I'm getting read errors on all of them (though they aren't in the best condition).

I've done some researching on the forums but can't find a lot of concrete info on simply what needs to be prepared to get burned games working, any suggestions?

EDIT: On 4.3U with a early Wii that I know should run disc back ups.

I respect that, however i think in the modern wii hacking scene, any "normal" sdhc card should work

i was having trouble with a few games working so i replaced the nand that was on the sd card with an older back up nand on the pc which i made after i first softmodded it with FileTrip Download Link priiloader ,hbc and bootmii. i then used bootmii as boot2 to transfer this nand onto the wii (i didn't transfer keys.bin when i did all this only nand file was swapped).
the issue i have now when firing up the wii i get a corrupted data message so the wii wont boot. any suggestions?
thanks in advance

fixed the issue got wii working , but still can't play smurfs or scarface

So this is SLIGHTLY noobish since I did successfully make SNEEK-DI work and run and have games play, but i did it through the installer, which is SNEEK r167. Now, I'm wanting to update my current SNEEK to the latest build (or revision) and run it. How would I come about do that? I've tried searching to see how to update from an older version, but im not getting to far. It would be very helpful, thank you!

:]

so i'll try bumping this.

but also, im curious what's the LARGEST USB drive possible to use? (like no HDD) And can you put games on the SD card instead? since im noticing space on them is alot larger.. like Wii games. thanks!

Hi, I've got softmodded Wii with IOS 58 but I would like to instal IOS 202.
Is it anyhow dangerous for my Wii?
Will apps that need IOS 58 still work?
