So basically I've been a happy owner of the PS3 (not to mention a list of handhelds/consoles from previous and current generations). Now I'm wondering if there are any titles for the 360 that should really merit the investment of getting a 360.

My Wii is modded, but it has been left mostly for playing backups, while my PS2 already has a close to broken laser but works with an internal HDD for gaming. The PS3 is on OFW, but that's simply because I haven't been bothered with it and I like the way PSN works.

I don't have that much time to play online, so I'd assume XBL is pretty much moot for me. Halo/Gear of War come to mind first with Alan Wake being a good second, but are there that many exclusives worth it. And no, I'm not interested in the kinect.

Unless the likes of Halo, Gears of Wars, Forza or any of the few exclusives the 360 has appeal to your tastes, no I wouldn't push the 360 on you while you still have a PS3. Not saying it is a bad console or anything but for the odd title you maybe interested in you could find dirt cheap in a few years

    Get a RGH.
If XBL doesn't bother you then it's a good way to play XBLA/XBLindie/old xbox/360 games.
You can extract them on the internal HDD (or external but internal is quicker) or FTP them to the 360.

Xbox 360 has some great games I think, but it has MAJOR system failure according to gaming critics.

They're not really any more prone to failure now than most other electronics, certainly no more than PS3. Just don't buy an old used one.

Xenons and Zephyrs are regarded as RRoD machines yes.
Falcons and above are pretty sturdy.
Kronos (Phat), Trinity (Slim) and Corona (Slim)are the best.

Also weren't the first PS3's just as bad as the Xenons?

But the PS3 light was yellow...and the Xbox light was red...and a red light is worse than a yellow light, right?

    Oh yes certainly.
Cause everyone knows that red is far worse then yellow.

    Seriously.
Mate of mine has a Xenon that is still working.
    2005 launch console.
Never RRoDded or whatever, he cleans it regularly and keeps it in an open enviroment.

Most of the time it all comes down to taking care of a console.

Indeed. I've yet to see a console that fails in my use although I've clocked hundreds (or thousands) hours on most of my consoles and they're still going strong!

Most of the time, but there were some serious design flaws with the older 360's. Inadequate cooling + lead free solder = disaster

I'd say your buddy has luck as much to thank as proper care, not that that hurts.

The GPU heatsink isn't even designed to cool a old Pentium 2 CPU .__.
The airduct itself is just filled with holes and gaps where air gets sucked through.
Heat gets trapped with the MEMchips.
    Indeed.
The cooling design is a disaster in Xenons.
    Zephyrs where meh ish..
Falcons where good at cooling and Jaspers the same.
Kronosses had the Xenon style GPU cooling again (fools)

    Slim is neatly done.
    Direct fan access.
They should've mounted an intake fan on the original phatties one.
Could saved them a lot of trouble.

But yeh most of the blame goes to the lead free solder.
But that's the EU (I think?) their fault.
They banned it cause it was a hazard for people.
YOU'RE NOT BUYING A CONSOLE TO LICK IT DO YOU !?
Hell 90% of the people don't even open up their 360 ever .__.

The restrictions were brought in because of manufacture and disposal.

if you like rpgs there are a few good exclusives like tales of vesperia. the online store is also more robust an offering than the console competition. also of note is if you are a cheapskate like me, many of it's games can be had for 20 or under that are quite enjoyable "nintynine nights series and blue dragon come to mind as examples"

    Stay classy GBAtemp..

So far I've enjoyed the console quite a bit. There are quite a few good games around and this seems to be the best time to get the games both new and used. So far I've spend about 5-10€ per game (New/Used) and all used games are almost like new in box. The console is still not connected to Live if I happen to want to mod it. So far I haven't seen the need (I've pretty much gotten most if not all of the games I want for the console) :P
