Hacking Worth upgrading cfw?

Hi, my old psp 2000 is running 5.50 gen 3 cfw, is there any benefit to upgrading to newer cfw? if so, is it safe to do?

the benefit is you dont need to patch your iso to work in the new firmware. after this the psp didint change a lot.
it safe to do so, and is more easy to update your cfw.
