Hardware Wii U won't go past Wii U logo in setup

I bought a Wii U refurbished directly from Nintendo's store, the Mario 3D world bundle, and upon plugging it in this morning to set it up, it froze on the Wii U logo (boot screen). I've tried plugging it into different outlets, 3 different HDTVs, a PC monitor, and AV & Component Cables, but with no luck. This really bummed our Christmas a little. Nintendo's support was closed today, so I couldn't ask them for advice.
Does anyone have any ideas?

The gamepad works, but the actual system never goes to the gamepad syncing screen.

Okay, I got Customer Support to set me up with a repair. Hopefully it'll work when I get it back.
