The thing is, anyone can be selling these at full price. I do not feel ripped off because these cost $15USD each instead of $40USD for a genuine and they work well enough for that kind of money. Filtering ebay ensures that you only buy from domestic sellers, but these are disguised as genuine so there could still be knockoffs among the domestic sellers, possibly at full price.

Is there another revision floating around now? These pictures are the ones I got with a copy of FlingSmash last week (best buy was selling it for $25 instead of 50, so it was cheaper than buying the Wiimote alone).

Notice the writing on the side, how there isn't a raised rectangle for the "RVL-036 MADE IN CHINA", and how the exposed part of the PCB is yellow.

Perfectly legit. Compare it against the FCC's photos and you will see: https://fjallfoss.fc..._id=%27YE5-WRIG

I already have one fake wiimote that works ok - but not brilliant. I'm just going through an annoyance with three fakes bought from Ebay at £21GBPounds each. I didn't realise that they were fakes at first and they were shipped from the UK. They all have some kind of problem. Now I am negotiating with the seller, who wants me to ship them back to China and the cheapest postage option, taking up to 56 days and with no guarantee of delivery is £5 .... I would rather keep the controllers and negotiate a reduction so we'll see how it goes.
In hindsight, my recommendation would be not to go for the fakes because it's a lottery and can be expensive to put right.

You should check whether the wii remote plus is genuine or fake.

    Genuine ones costs $50.

    $40.

And if you shop around you can get good deals. I got my black wiimote+ and a black nunchuck for about $37 incl. tax after all was said and done.

I just discovered that I bought one of these RWL-003 controllers on ebay. Japanese box and everything, around 20USD incl. shipping including a decent nunchuk.

Now the thing is that all my other remotes accept ENELOOP rechargable batteries. The new fake will only accept alkaline batteries. I tried a few sets of rechargables, even recharged the batteries, but no go. The new fake only likes alkaline. This can get costly. Does anyone have a solution for this?

    ^ Rechargable NiMH AA batteries.

Edit - wait, it won't work with regular AA rechargable batteries, or it won't work with the packs that have the battery cover built in?

It won't work with rechargeable AA batteries. I don't have the battery packs with the built in cover because my ENELOOP batteries are way superior in terms of stand-by.

I did some tests with all my rechargables and it seems like this fake wiimote (motion plus 003) only runs with batteries. This really sucks.

I have the same turquoise knock off remote. works fine except the b button is a little harder to press and the vibration is annoying when playing first person shooter games in a gun. i like the speaker in side the wii mote always reminds me of old sega game sound effects

I have two of these knockoffs, purchased straight from China. Purchased from tinydeal, and dealextreme, both have worked well so far (6months). For $15 compared to $60+ in Korea they have served there purpose.

(I know this is a couple months old, but not too old and still very relevant) Hmm, I just bought a new Wiimote from a local shop here (in the US) for $30, and it's freakin one of these things! It seems to work all right, but I'm pretty pissed to find out that I paid that much and it's fake...not like it was form eBay or anything. I'm very tempted to go back to the store and show him this thread and complain, the only thing is that it works almost just as well as a real one, even in Skyward Sword with MotionPlus...But the rumble feels worse, and the sensor movement just like on the Home menu and everything is not as smooth. It's definately one of these, thank god for the internet or I'd never have known! Is it even legal to sell a product and claim it's made by Nintendo when realy it isn't at a store in the US? Seems like it shouldn't be legal...

So I never even saw these replies, but that statement isn't entirely true. Alkaline AA batteries output 1.5V, while NiMH AA batteries (typically) output 1.3V, just because of the chemical composition of them. In most cases, this makes no difference whatsoever, though a fake Wii remote may need more power than a usual one (because legit ones do indeed work with NiMH batteries). Adding to the fact that the fake one is fake.

    The reason is simple,
there are few Wiimotes in china market and all of them have some diff.
Anyway, none of them works 100% correctly as genuine one.

    Your reason is simple,
if you put batteries which are 100% full in Genuine it will show 4 LEDs. In some clones it will or need more power to work, so it will show 50% or 2 LEDs.
If you put battery which is "EMPTY" more than half it will not work in such wimote clones. So try full battery.

Do not buy china Wiimotes, reasons:
    1. it will eventually break (mechanically nunchuck pad, electronic in other nunchuck, nunchuk doesn't work)
    2. it doesn't work nice as genuine one
    3. it is too loud
    4. rumble is not the same
    5. and maybe it will not work at all or behave strange (can't access to game, stop working, you must pull batteries out and put in, freezes moves in games, must disonect nunchuck etc...)

I bought 2 Wiimote (one of them was wiimotion plus) + 3 nunchuck from China, and I will throw them in garbage. Spend money, but I stiil doens't have genuine :).

In 1st model, nunchuk electronic dies, in 2 nunchuck breaks pad, in 3rd (wiimote + nunchuck) you can use it, freezes, don't work, recognize only 50% of battery :).

    So go for original one.
