Hi,

I'm new to all this and don't want to kill my kids wii.
We have one downstairs which works fine, and one upstairs that the kids used to play a lot, this one does not read discs anymore, but everying else works ok.

I'm being told I can easily softmod both of the wii, use the working one to backup our discs to a HDD and play them on the second one.

Here are my questions:

  • With 1 HDD can I store and play backed up GameCube/Wii images made on the first Wii, on the second? If so, is there a tutorial for this?
  • What is the best method for softmodding that doesn't require a working optical drive?
Thanks for your time.

I want the number in the top right of the settings.

So my version is 4.1E.

I downloaded modmii, and completed all the steps as requested. Everything seemed to work ok.
I have an 8GB SD card, and a 16GB USB stick (NTFS formatted).

I keep getting black screens while trying to rip games to the USB stick, and the HBC says it's unable to mount USB.

Any help resolving such problems would be most welcome.

the usb drive should be formatted fat32 for best compatibility with everything

I was always unable to rip games to my usb. I am forced to rip them to my sd card then move to my usb. Have you tried this?

As for which usb loader. I recommend you use either cfg or gx because it is the most simple so kids don't mess things up.

You want to use either Nintendont or DIOS MIOS for your gamecube games. I recommend you use Nintendont because it is still receiving updates everyday.

@K3Nv2 Snow Day is pretty fun. My only bitch would be the camera controls, when you move around, say down, you have to move the right stick left or right to get camera to turn and get your view, other than that I like it so far.

From what people say pvp isn't even worth it
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
I just been playing offline, and they give you a few bots here n there on your team to help battle. I don't think it's as funny as the other games tho, more battle oriented than humor, which kinda sucks, but I'm still early in it

@BigOnYa, doesnt the game have a campaign mode?
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Yea, and co-op, but you can also start a pvp session and battle just with friends. You get special skill cards (powers) the more you play. And higher value cards, but you can only enable so many cards at a time.

If you can find enough for it

Toilet paper is considered the money, you collect and buy stuff with TP, kinda funny. Graphics are def better than the other games tho, I think they used Unity 5 engine.

I bet most people at the time still watched it in black and white
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, Many of them did before colour television was common.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Likely because black and white TV was in-expensive.

  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
It certainly wasn't inexpensive it cost the same as a new car back then
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
How much did a 1965 color TV cost?

For example, a 21-inch (diagonal) GE color television in 1965 had an advertised price of $499, which is equal to $4,724 in today's dollars, according to the federal government's inflation calculator.

@K3Nv2, take into consideration how economy was back then
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Yeah that's why they listed inflation rates
