Hardware What video formats work?

Which of the video formats work? AVI, MKV, MP4, etc.. When using a usb drive/stick (I assume on FAT32).
Does it matter which dashboard?
Can a update be downloaded/installed?

AVI and WMV, MP4 I... believe it will.
Dashboard doesn't matter, there's a optional media update, think it supported Ipod input.. not sure anymore.
