I just finally moved my Wii from my parents house to my own and I want to now what I can do with it? IN terms of Hacking and homebrew and roms and emulators etc....

I'm a total newb so what I'm trying to say is can anyone answer the questions below:

What emulators are available for the WII?
My current firmware Is 4.2E! is there any chance I could hack my wii in order to play free roms?
How hard is it to hack a wii?
IS my system firmware capable of being hacked?
Any guides omn installing software that can add cfw or hacks to my wii?

Thanks in advance

Yes, you can softmod your Wii. Yes, you can play game backups. It is about as easy as using the forum search function.

Softmodding only involves an SD card and software. A hardmod requires that you actually take your Wii apart and make a tangible modification to your system.

I found the process really easy after I setup the homebrew, you're quite much free to do what you want after installing the hbc.
What can be found in homebrew:
Many emulators for retro consoles, and yes you can play wii game backups, they're isos but I guess it's alright calling them roms.

Well,I don't know much about instructing so search through the forums,it really helps :P

Well, bumping this again:
  • You can add a decent media player for your Wii
  • You can setup DLNA streaming
  • You can run cheats and patches on any Wii game
  • You can add themes to your system menu
  • You can run some cool homebrew apps and games, like a physics simulator or a musical game
