ROM Hack What can I do with an old 3ds xl version 7.2 without gateway?

My friend just sold me an old 3ds xl having version 7.2 for 15 bucks to raise money to buy a new 3ds xl .I want to know what all can I do with it EASILY?. Like installing homebrew in my o3ds 10.1 was easy but browserhax is not working yet on this one yet. And if the way involves this rxtools sysnand emunand stuff then please explain what are they. I would be satisfied to get homebrew on it because I really want to get Pokémon rumble and Pokémon shuffle on it. And I would go the way that's complicated but worth it.And please be a little explenative and wordy on your answer because I'm a newbie and PLEASE don't be brief.Thanks.

rxTools = emuNAND with signpatch
emuNAND = installs your system on your SD card to allow updating
signpatch = allows installation of unsigned CIAs
CIA = applications or games (most of these are unsigned)
