PS1/2 what are the differences on ps2 models (serials)

apparently there are several model numbers.. anyone knows the differences?
i am not talking about the differnces on the slim and fat models, a ps2 fat can have several serial numbers, some related to region.. i wanted more info about that...

I have a SCPH-79001 and my sister has a SPCH-90001 the only difference as far I can tell is that the old model needs an external ac adaptor while the new one has the adaptor inside and only needs the cable, I do prefer the older model, if someday overheats I'll just have to buy another external adaptor and not a whole ps2.

Yeah there are many models, basic differences are wifi and slim case.
And regions yes.

Whole bunch of differences. The earliest Japanese models used an external HDD. Later ps2's retired the iLink IEEE1394 port, and built in the DVD remote receiver.
Though all slims have ethernet, 70012 had a modem too.

A nice thing about the 70000 family slim is its travel friendly 100V~240V power brick.
