I recently wanted to increase my memory card size so I took out my SD card and made a backup on my Desktop.
I had hidden and system files enabled to show and copied everything over.
I went to go put in my new FAT32 64GB microSD card into my adapter and try to boot up custom firmware (in particular Gateway - which I had running successfully before)
and it just went straight to the normal home screen when I tried to hold down on the D-pad to enter GW mode.
Please Help I don't know what I did wrong. If there's an easy fix please I still have the original SD card with everything on it but even that brings me to the original home screen.

EDIT: I think I might just re-mod it completely any links to tutorials that will allow GW to run when booting with Down on the D-Pad pressed in?
I need to know where to start though I just formatted my 64GB microSD SD card adapter to start fresh.
Any help will be greatly appreciated as I simply just want to play games again.

Should I stick with installing .cia files? I didn't know Gateway was off the map it's been a while since I've modded the 3DS.

You should upgrade to B9S and Luma if you dont have them, yea stick to Cia format, but first update the bootloader and CFW you are using.

I'm not sure I have anything installed on my system at the moment I mean I did have B9S installed with GM9 and Luma3DS but it seems to have gone away after I tried updating the memory card. =/

Not a problem at least I know GW is outdated now I don't keep up with news.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Okay so I did soundhax and ran OCS
Let it do its thing...
Luma3DS configuration screen - Chose Show NAND or user string in System Settings
I now have the Sys infront of my firmware version

Now...
It wants me to update should I do it?
I don't want to update to a firmware that isn't hackable but I'll wait for an answer to see what you guys say first

On what the next step for you is depending what is the content on your SD card and what left on the system, it probably best to post screen shot of contents inside your SD card and what show up when you hold start during power up and what show up when you hold select during power up.

@Hayato213G

It is safe to update the system firmware, but you need to update Luma and B9S first
