The main problem is that usb loader gx wont boot when the usb hd is connected to the wii. usb cfg does the same thing, freezes when i try to load it. If I unplug the usb hd and run usbloader gx off my sd card, it runs fine and goes to the usbloader gx screen. Then i plug my usb hd into the wii again and it reads the games and i can play. I'm using the new dx2 v10 cios 53 beta and 52 beta. My hdd is a Toshiba 1TB and it is a usb 3.0 and not a 2.0.

Any suggestions I can try?

I think the guide on here says not to mix 53 and 52. I'm not sure if that matters though. I'm using 52 for emuNAND support myself. I've not had this issue you mention with either 52 or 53 as I've tried both. maybe show the system report showing all IOS/cIOS on your system?

it didn't recognize my hdd, it was made in the Philippines.

I'll be looking for a new hdd, so can you tell me what the best brand for is with the wii?

after looking on the web I found this:

hi,

After months of annoyed by this "3 min Standby" I found a tool, to turn off the
standby of the stor.e basic.

"HDDScan 3.3"

- choose your HDD
- click the button in the middle "New Task"
- Build Command Line
- Advanced Power Management -> click disable
- at the botton click save, name and save the batch file like you want.
- execute the bat as admin (Win7/8) or doubleclick in XP

DONE !

where I found it:

It worked and now the hd won't go to sleep, now I have to test it on the wii.

After testing, still doesn't work. I will just get a new hdd and use the Toshiba as a back-up or w/e

That only works on a PC as it has to be run every time. :(

There may not be any way to fix your drive. I would recommend either getting a generic enclosure and putting your own drive in it or look for a HDD that hasn't got any "extra" features like encryption, power saving, etc.
