Can you upgrade a downgraded o3ds xl to the latest official over the air? Or do I need to restore it to 9.2 first?

Nvm it worked fine doing a ota. I formatted the SD card before selling it, but the guy who bought it wanted to update it to the latest official. He jumped the gun and did an ota update. He had no problems.
