Hey, everyone! I'm really sorry if I'm posting this wrong, if it's not in the right place of if it's not formatted right - I'm new here, and I've found myself in a bit of a bind. All I want is to be able to install legit cia files to my 3DS - nothing more, nothing less. While I've recently been quite content with my Sky3DS, I did some digging and managed to equip myself with Ninjhax and the Homebrew Starter Kit. So far so good... The only problem is that absolutely NONE of the homebrew software, whether it came with the starter kit or not, is able to run. Most just give me a yellow screen of death, while the rest give me errors, and I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing wrong. Things were going smoothly until now, there weren't any errors in any part of the process until now, so I'm confused as to what went wrong. I do realize that yellow screens are a common occurrence when it comes to crashes, but here we're not talking about that - things aren't even starting up, and the very few apps that are all give me errors. Again - I don't really want emulators or out of region roms, all I want is to be able to install cias, but FBI gives me a yellow screen and NASA freezes. Any clues about what could've gone wrong? I've got a 3DS XL running 9.7.0-14E.

Do you have the Homebrew starter kit on your 3ds sd? And don't update, you can downgrade to 9.2 and install unlegit cias.

I do have it, yes. I don't think it's possible to even access the homebrew apps without it, right? And I have no intention of updating, though for now the focus is just on getting legit cias to work.

I haven't been gaming for such a long time. Been mostly busy with sleep, hardware tinkering and checking GBAtemp frequently.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Hope you've had a good morning.

It's going alright thanks :) I know what you mean with gaming time. It's precious where I can get it these days.

I think that's why I focus on just enjoying single player experiences that aren't too competitive
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
    How are you doing?
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
There's also this thing where I'm hyperfocused at night and cannot get to sleep.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    @Maximumbeans, I'm doing alright, thanks.

That must be rough. Productive I'm sure but hard to balance with daily life

@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Man, that's beyond my brain  I'm no good with hardware for now. I'd like to get into hardmods in future though
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.

Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Sounds good. I actually did soldering but like 16 years ago for school so uuuuh probably rusty haha
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Same here. I did soldering at school from a teacher who I honestly liked since he had plenty of good electronics experience.

@Maximumbeans, I had a friend who had a glass chess set for their birthday.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
It was like all clear and fancy. Tbf I'm not too experienced with chess, but would like to learn someday.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
    That sounds really cool
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
I know the basics but no strategy at all

Watch chess streamers on Twitch and you'll pick up a thing or two.

Not to mention there's an infinite number of chess games for every possible platform.
