I'm trying to use LetterBomb to hack my 4.3U Wii and it's really...not working. I follow the directions to the letter on the tutorials I find, but the LetterBomb icon never shows up on the messageboard. I've tried two MicroSDHC cards and one old MicroSD(non-HC) card, all in FAT32, and none of them seem to work.

I've used these sets of directions:

http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Letterbomb
http://www.howtogeek.com/210185/how-to-install-the-homebrew-channel-on-a-nintendo-wii-the-easy-way/
http://gbatemp.net/threads/modify-any-wii-4-3-below.171901/

I made sure I used the proper MAC address for LetterBomb, so I know that's not the problem. Is the problem the fact that I used a MicroSD card instead of a normal SD? That's the only reason I can think of why, despite using multiple guides, I can't get LetterBomb to work.

This is going to sound stupid, but in my experience, LetterBomb sometimes just doesn't work. It's my primary method of hacking Wii systems and you occasionally get one where it just doesn't seem to take as easily. The only thing you really can do is follow the instructions (scroll back and forward 5 days, etc) and maybe use the site to make a new package when the current one doesn't work. Otherwise, just keep trying. I had one instance where I had to shut a Wii off and then power it back on and do the scrolling thing over and over for about 45 minutes before LetterBomb took.

That's what I used. And I mentioned trying a regular microSD, because I don't have any regular SDs.
Ah sorry, didn't see that in your initial post. Did you try using FAT16 on the SD card? It shouldn't matter, but I've always just used FAT16 for those.

That must be rough. Productive I'm sure but hard to balance with daily life

@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Man, that's beyond my brain  I'm no good with hardware for now. I'd like to get into hardmods in future though
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.

Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Sounds good. I actually did soldering but like 16 years ago for school so uuuuh probably rusty haha
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Same here. I did soldering at school from a teacher who I honestly liked since he had plenty of good electronics experience.

It was like all clear and fancy. Tbf I'm not too experienced with chess, but would like to learn someday.
