Hello everyone.

I have a jap wii that was bought pre-chipped. Other than semi-bricking it on strikers charged, I've had no serious issues with the thing. Recently, there have been reports that with an updated wiikey, SMG (jap) can unbrick jap wiis.

Unfortunately, because I don't know what chip might be in my wii, I'm worried about updating blindly. Is this something I shouldn't do? Would trying the wiikey update somehow damage the chip or wii if the chip in my wii isn't a wiikey? Or is this not something I have to worry about. I tend to think that the shotgun method of just trying each chip's update until I find the proper one could be dangerous.

Thoughts? Comments?
