Announced on their official twitter page, the artist duo Akira Himekawa are back writing and drawing the manga adaptation of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. This new series will begin serialization in Japan exclusively on Shogakukan's MangaONE app starting February 8, according to the artist's official website.

The same artist duo have been illustrating other Zelda titles in the past and the news come after an eight year hiatus. A 10 volume box of the artist's work has been published in 2011 by Viz Media in North America. However, there is no news of any English adaptation.

This manga release is perfect to set the mood for the release of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD
on March 4th.

Huh, neat. I enjoyed a lot of the LoZ comics when I was a kid, especially the Oracles and Majora's Mask ones. I hope these turn out well.

Because Wind Waker bombed hard in Japan, enough to jeopardize the fate of the entire series.
Its worldwide sales saved the franchise.
Game was rushed, Old Hyrule supposed to have tons of dungeons like Dark World in Alttp (that's why Twilight Princess has so many dungeons, even though it lost tons of content in its own right)...

Aonuma wanted to give Wind Waker a second chance. They announced a direct sequel where they would fulfill their vision.
Their main market (not Japan) said WW's art style sucks - you can thank IGN in part (back then they listened to that, that's why Tales of Phantasia GBA's port got localized and Mother 1+2/Tingle RPG passed over due to being "negatively received")
So ... Twilight Princess happened instead.

Phantom Hourglass succeeded in Japan strangely enough.
But the cycle continued with Spirit Tracks bombing there.
They then said the market wasn't ready for Toon Link and it might be a while before it's seen again.
When they re-released WW on Wii U to give it yet another chance (without actually implementing the missing stuff, but still) it sort of bombed again in Japan.

Wind Waker is cursed.
They want to forget about it.
It doesn't make sense for them to make a manga targeting Japan about their black sheep in the series.
Even its story suffered from development.

the mangas dont share the same story with the games though, they add new things and change a lot of aspects

And I thought the Japanese had good taste in games? Guess not..
