No it isn't. Here's how it came along:
Sega (Saturn 3D / Dreamcast) > Nintendo (GameCube, Wii U) > Microsoft (Original Xbox, Xbox 360, Xbox One).
I'm just grateful that they're both using the controller layout that Sega once used because it's far better than the layout of DualShock controllers.
It is my personal choice, I prefer the DualShock/SNES-style controllers with the d-pad above the stick.
tbh I would love a Classic Controller Pro U right now.
