It's dead. I personally liked it tbh. I've never rooted my device though due to the possibility that it may softlock it or prevent my access to apps.
But enough of that. Let's look forward to :switch: and Super Mario Run on Android Devices.

Um That's not at all how software compatibility works. At all. Software doesn't run just because "the other guy runs". I can't run Star Citizen on my PC because Fallout 4 and Dishonored 2 works.

There could be many reasons why software doesn't work. Super Mario Run is a new release on Android. You can't compare this brand new app to Miitomo and Pokemon Go when those two apps have existed for much longer and very likely have different development teams.

There's no telling if your device was even a part of the quality assurance process. Most companies just use popular Android brands Samsung, Google, LG, HTC, and Motorola when testing apps. Thus, they can only say a select few devices function correctly upon release, and even that isn't guaranteed due to user tampering on the device from it's default system settings.

You also cannot compare Androids to iOS because the hardware and software has too much variation on Android in order to produce the same results iOS has. This is why iOS went first with this game's release. The standardization, the consistancy. iOS is the testing ground.

There are apps on the Play Store that say they're incompatible with my phone but if I download the apk and then run it, then it works fine. Just seems like a weird hickup from Google/Nintendo. Then again, there's so many different Androids we can't really be too angry at them.

That's more of a problem with Google Play itself rather than the apps.

Playstation view locked me out due to root. Then I used root cloak to hide it from that app and now it works like a charm.

If you're rooted, a build.prop tweak would fix that!
But it also would prevent you from running PG, Miitomo, and likely SMR (unless you have systemless root, which is extra complicated depending on your phone).

Most people here are happy to support Nintendo's Mario Run game but the whole online-only DRM has pretty much destroyed that as we can't play the game whenever we want. I'm still hoping for a 3DS release.

There's plans to update it alright ...so $10 for the first 6 worlds ...well wait a few months, there will be more! ...only thing is, you will be paying another $10.

It's crap anyways, online only, and it's way overpriced...I wonder if Android users will give it the same welcome as iOS users have! =)

I'm sure it will be cracked and modded within 24 hours of release.
Just play rayman jungle run instead, far better game.

The Android marketplace is full of rubbish Clash of Clans, Candy Crush and then clones and clones of those games. Mario Run feels completely fresh and like the console Mario 2D games on a smartphone adapted to one touch only. It's pretty impressive Nintendo made it happen without milking people with micro-transactions.

Speaking of micro-transactions, there's a lot of angry iOS users complaining about the price of Mario Run which is a one-time fee whereas other games charge $1/£1 here, $1/£1 there and it never ends. They would probably be happy to spend $300/£300 on a game like that.

I'd certainly be happy to do that for an Animal Crossing one. After all I'm the kind of person who went out of his way to buy an Isabelle Amiibo as an impulse buy without having any sort of use for it (until Welcome Amiibo came about, but this was before that). Micro transactions are how basically all businesses on mobile platforms operate nowadays.

You pay $10 and that's the final price whereas most smartphone games are filled with micro-transactions.

Here's how Nintendo could have miled Mario Run:
    • To jump more than 10 times please pay $2.50
    • To gain all coloured coins please pay $7.50
    • To unlock the ultra super rare Rosalina please pay $4.99
    • To unlock the ultra super rare Bowser please pay $4.99
    • To unlock the ultra super rare Link please pay $4.99
    • To unlock one new stage please pay $3.50
    • To unlock all stages please pay $9.50
    • To run faster please pay $3.50
    • To use different customisable skin colours please pay $4.50
    And so on.

People call Mario Run "expensive" yet if it had micro-transactions up its ass it would be "cheap." lol

Nah, it's just the way they handled it.
In all honestly, I even considered paying it and still am considering.
It would've felt a bit better if there was a demo and a payed version availlable en not "Hidden" like this.

Imagine them doing this with every game and yer kid keeps coming to you if you'd please pay for the full version with everygame...
Kind of feels like reversed DLC... Like, it's already there, but you gotta pay first.
