Probably, but im focusing ultimately on droid til i feel comfortable and learn more, then perhaps ill work on a workaround or external device. Let this be a message to all, any kind of usable beta is not in the near future so dont get too excited. But honestly im completely ignorant of Apple, in fact i avoid them like AIDS, no offence. Just so much bs and special this and that with them. Its like the sole purpose of an iphone is to make you w
I'm just going to state this for the sake of ending speculations. You can backup amiibos, took me like 30-50 mins to make an app for android (specifically my galaxy note 2) to backup a friend's amiibos, select which backed up amiibo to load, and clone it at will on any topaz 512 nfc tag. Yes, I did have to take it out of the box for cloning. Few things I would like to improve on to save myself some tags and other cool stuff I want it to do, but it works pretty much as i intended.

*Not going to be released*
If someone actually knows anything about nfc and finds out how to clone too, I would appreciate a pm with Samus' codes, 'cause all stores me and my girlfriend been, Samus was gone; and I managed in some cases to generate a new ID, so I won't use yours, not that probably has anything to do with anything (other than becoming unique per console). I don't mind trading Link's and Kirby's code with a unique ID. And yes, we will buy 1 Samus figure, just would like to use it now and keep Samus' amiibo in the box. Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Zananok

Is it writable or only readable for combat. You can't save progress can you?

I am a software engineer with experience in many languages, including Java. I will happily donate some time to a project for emulating, cloning, and hex editing amiibo. Maybe we should set up a small git repo for development.

Well... Hex editing isn't possible? Until you find the auth key to write. Back ups are possible. But they only work for loading for battle, not for amiibo gifts since that requires updating amiibos. Emulation seems to be incompatible though I've seen mifare ultralight passes emulated on YouTube.

From what I've seen so far, the key doesn't seem to likely to be overly complex and we can crack it with enough permutations. Additionally my understanding is once you can clone you can hex edit. You read the complete tag into memory, edit the "image" while in memory, then save the image back out.

I've got quite a bit of programming experience, including several years with Android, and I own a Wii U, Mario amiibo (not yet used), rooted Nexus 7, and 10 blank Topaz 512 NFC tags. I'd love to help out in any ways possible.

I've read through every post here; is there already - and, if not, might it be useful to assemble - a public document, i.e. Google Doc or wiki, of all the information that's been collected so far on the amiibo data structure, apps that work best for reading/writing, what advances have been made on putting together a custom app, etc.? Maybe make a new page on wiiubrew?

I would even be willing to purchase and assemble extra hardware if necessary, to store and transmit the data if needed. I would love to be able to simply have an app to do it with that could be run from my S4. I really wish I had learned some programming when I was alot younger.

hobbenbobber: there is one guy that posted here stating he has pretty much written an app that will do what most of us are ultimately looking to do. The problem is, just like the 3ds hackers that were actually capable of doing something useful for the scene, he stated that he will not release his work to be shared.

luney: I saw that Zananok mentioned that on Tuesday, but Master0fBlunt yesterday mentioned making some progress on a buggy solution with a workaround to using physical NFC tags and has yet to share her progress, so I was curious any progress she or others might have made.

Useful apps to see what information is in the amiibos:

Taginfo by NXP
Mifare++ ULTRALIGHT

Both will read the same data, Taginfo is more detailed. Mifare++ can't write though it has the feature. It does not have the feature of setting the authentication key to enable writing. Currently I've found no app that can read, show data, and allow modification saving with an with key. I do have my hands on an RFID scanner from a friends. I'll do some tinkering.

So is this app only going to let you spoof amiibos from your phone, or will you be able to write them to other tags/amiibo figures? The reason im int interested in this is I know a fella who does sculpture commissions, and part of me totally wants to get a custom amiibo figure from him... just after seeing Villager, Marth, and Wii Fit Trainer being potentially discontinued, and becoming incredibly rare in either case, I'd sorta feel bad about taking a rare figure off its amiibo base so I could smack a custom one on top. Being able to spoof my own amiibo chips would be great for this, or hell even if they could only be written to other amiibo bases, id be fine buying something like a mario amiibo I dont care about at all and writing over that base.

I still intend to -buy- the actual figures, of course. They're cool. I just dont want to sacrifice their legitimate coolness for my own custom coolness.

I just dont want to have to open them out of the boxes and ruin them as collectors items.

Bit silly maybe, but having it saved on a tag would be a lot handier :) as it seems they have put some shielding inside the box to prevent you reading the tag data from inside the box, which makes sense I suppose but kinda sucks.

Firstly, a huge HUGE thank you to those contributing to this thread. I had a couple of questions that have "kinda" been answered, but not outright, and I was hoping someone from this thread could answer.
1. I'm not interested in spoofing the nfc chip in my amiibo's, I AM interested in cloning them to a compatible nfc chip, which if I've read correctly is the Topaz 512.
I found these on Amazon, maybe not the best price, but only 10% of an amiibo. Is this what I need?
2. If these are correct, Can I just scan my Amiibo(s) with my phone using NFC TAG CLONER.
3. If NFC TAG CLONER works to scan, then can I just copy the information using NFC TAG CLONER to one of the Blanks I ordered in step 1?
4. Will my Wii U recognize the tag as an Amiibo?

If that all works then:
No need to answer these if the cloning won't work.
5. Is there any other NFC besides Topaz 512 that will hold/ work as an amiibo?
6.What's it going to take to get the nfc info from some (all?) the released amiibo's on TPB or other dmca resistant sites? (side note, I WILL GLADLY POST MINE FIRST, i just have to wait until Dec 26, the only amiibo's i have access too are the ones my wife ordered for the kids for christmas).
7. I swear I've looked into this, but i can't find out one way or the other as all the google searches bring up the dmca takedown notice as opposed to information on how to do it but: Are Skylanders/Giants/Swapforce/TrapTeam cloneable in a similar fashion?
8. And if so, what blanks do I need?

My ultimate goal is just these blanks, an oversized keyring, some sturdy glue and color pictures of the amiibo's/skylanders affixed to the back of the cloned copies. Thanks to anyone who takes the time to respond.

Nope..

Topaz 512 is the wrong type of NFC chip. If you try to clone it using NFC Tag Cloner it will fail. (It will complain they are two different types and refuse to write)

Sorry

Take good care of your Amiibo figures and give it up. It is the same as hacking for the Wii U; it is for piracy. If it could be done and anyone with skills wanted to do it then it would be posted at "the usual places." HOWEVER, I heard that one of the most notorious "usual places" is not shut down :-(

I don't think it's against the rules to talk about these "usual places" is it? You have piqued my interest now. BTW, hacking the wiiu is absolutely not only about piracy. I am thrilled to finally see some real homebrew emerging for the 3ds. It would be fantabulous to see the same thing on the wiiu.

You should be able to scan through the packaging and have the figure work

I updated my previous post and added a link to the xml that the NXP NFC TagInfo App generates.

I have some XMLs of link and Samus, maybe it will aid in the deciphering of the boilerplate sections. I will post them later, after I have had time to check what they have, today has been very long. hopefully I will have time tomorrow.
