Dude, this is literally the same pose as the Inkling Girl did in version 1.0...
nintendo needs to learn more about western culture before doing things

it's nothing like it she is just fist pump
nintenDOH needs to go back and learn more about other cultures.
I dunno, just reminds me of Popeye, when he flex his muscles. Maybe that is the problem, sailors are known to have some questionable habits.
In 1.1, yes, but not like that in 1.0.
Pre update (top picture) she had the exact pose as that figure, in the update (bottom pic) she no longer uses her second hand
they should maybe also put pants on DK/Bowser since they look nude down there.
Nintendo is becoming more sensitive.
but it's fine, this is not anything major.
thats a hand
Yeah exactly, you don't see it as offensive, because you grew up somewhere where it really wasn't offensive. Just like there are places in the world where the middle finger means nothing and in some cases actually means peace. When your game is being played by people all over the world together and is aiming to be accessible to players of all ages, it makes sense that they're going to remove gestures that didn't initially seem offensive to them until they learned of how other cultures perceive the gesture.
Pretty sure no one else knows that the Sailor sprites in Ruby/Sapphire JPN that has a pose like that.
Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire Sailor
Those here that are complaining about the update sound really stupid since this was legitimately offensive content. It may not be offensive for NA or JPN, but it's offensive for EU (or at the very least, a lot of places in Europe).
This is an example of proper censorship, at least in my honest opinion.
See i knew it was familiar somehow
In México that censored gesture means PUTO= fucking gay, homosexual etc
EDIT: my mistake, sorry in México, that gesture means: "GO FUCK YOURSELF"
That's actually hilarious, I'm amazed that it got into the game in the first place.
Really? I'll just leave this here...
Getting back on topic, I don't see how this is offensive. It may mean "up yours" in certain parts of the world according to this thread, but I've certainly never seen it here in the U.S.A.
Even then, that was still content. This is a single minor animation for a single character.
It's still pretty stupid to report on. It's a minor change that isn't important at all.
Well, everyone has their own opinions. Yours is that it isn't important. Mine is that it is.
It's still offensive to other people whether you've seen it in the US or not. People all over the world play this game and it's bound to offend a lot of people depending on where they're from, it's a reasonable thing for Nintendo to remove.
In France, this gesture means something like "go fuck yourself". Actually, you slap your hand on the other arm's biceps, while you rise this last arm up.
It's about the same meaning as the middle finger. It's pretty rude and offensive.
i can understand they removed it. How could i explain my 5yo son he mustn't use this, when his fav' videogame does (it's for the exemple, my son doesn't know this gesture... well, i hope).
Ya'll really mad about that 2nd arm huh?
