At the Switch Premieres I was at, they only offered the Pro Controller or the Joy-Cons strapped to the Switch so I never had the chance to get a feel of what it'd be like to play it with each Joy-Con on each hand. Admittedly, the Testfire Demo is coming up soon enough so we'll know how the experience will be like but if anyone has had the chance, I'd like to know! :)

ReviewTechUSA made a video on how Overwatch should be on the Switch and I agree with him, the thing he did not mention was how great the Joy-Cons would be to play with it -- I'm guessing he prefers the Pro Controller for his big fat hands. :P

Joy-Con is the future of console controller gaming.

Already done that. Loaded up the demo to see if it was playable at all offline but nope.

Sure hope the USB LAN 3.0 arrives tomorrow.

The Splatoon 2 test is only active from Friday, March 24 to Sunday, March 26. If you download and play the game early, it just tells you that the servers aren't online yet.

    Warning: Spoilers inside!

Got a chance to play at the San Francisco Switch event. My thoughts as a whole:

    • Getting used to the repositioned right stick took a little bit, but it's the same story with the Pro Controller
    • I kept accidentally woomying because the left direction buttons were so small and were underneath the stick, on the Wii U the stick is offset so you can grip the edge away from the buttons.
    • Aim controls were pretty great even in portable mode, though I tended to use them a bit less drastic compared to Wii U because I still had to see the screen
    • HD rumble was nice, could feel each shot being fired
    • Again, the size of the ABXY buttons kinda sucked because if you're rapidly switching between buttons, it's easy to accidentally hit other buttons. Right stick probably didn't help.

I love the Joy-Cons, I've only used them in "relaxed mode" with one in each hand. It was a bit awkward playing with them at first, since I'm holding them one in each hand it handles a bit differently than the Wii U gamepad, and I kept opening the map by accident (I think they must have switched some buttons around? It felt like something was out of place)
They definitely work great in Splatoon, but I still find it odd that only the right gyro controls the camera.

idk why, but I prefer the motion controls. They feel weird at first, but I got used to them.

Playing the demo with the controllers separately confused me a little, as the gyro is only controlled by the right JoyCon. I much prefer the two in the grip or on the console with motion controls.

Same here. I've always used motion in Splatoon for the U so I'm used to it.

You get used to controlling the gyro with only the right Joy-Con. Of course, you can pretend they both control it and move both if you like. I'm never gonna use the grip, I like the "relaxed mode" with one Joy-Con in each hand too much :D
It's a bit odd, but I guess it's simpler to code the motion controls for only the right Joy-Con than having to average out the values from both Joy-Cons or similar.

Played with the grip, and it felt alright. I wish the right stick affected both X and Y axis for aiming like it does in BotW, but all in all it was functional.

Actually never played Splatoon 1 :P Never bought a Wii U and only 1 friend had it. But in general. Tried it without the motion controls, didn't enjoy it. Last game (for my first time ever playing Splatoon) was able to get decent score. [IMG]

Damn, that's a lot of kills. I never get that many kills but I usually get killed pretty quickly in confrontations and I tend to focus on painting the most in the quickest time possible as that's what gets you the win and the points anyway.
I'm happy if i kill someone else for each time I get killed, so they cancel eachother out. Which I usually do.

I try to do both, but end up getting more kills, and less points xd

You don't get points with kills but with painting the stage
