And alot of time Companies give people items to review vs loan it to them.
That doesnt mean they are entitled to give it a good review tho.

Entitled, no. Pressured, certainly.
If i give you something of value and you tell thousands of ppl "omg this is the worst shit ever!", even if true, you can be certain i will never again give you anything. It wasn't a contract or even verbally mentioned or agreed upon. But the pressure exists anyway.

Honestly? If the truth hurts you to the point where you don't want to give a truthful reviewer your products to review? Don't enter the business.

The business exists to make money. IGN gives nintendo a good review,Nintendo pays them in some way,IGN makes money and Nintendo makes money. Honesty in business is not a priority. Its about making sales.

And when people sense that your reviews are crap, they stop reading them and you lose money.

And it turns out this guy was fired from IGN for giving the switch a bad review. So while people on here swear up and down that nintendo would never do that, there is literally undeniable proof.
correlation does not equal causation. this is conspiracy theory level thinking :3

Its not really a conspiracy. Companies exists to make money and it is in both IGN and Nintendos best interest to collaborate.

IGN has a history of doing exactly this.
They let someone review something and fire them if they don't like the backlash.
Just watch some videos by GuruLarry on youtube about reviewers.
This is completely normal for IGN and something they have done time and time again.
This is not special, this is not some conspiracy theory, this is just regular old IGN and stuff they have done many, many times.

That's not how it works. This person got fired. They also gave the switch a meh review. To assume they got fired because of the meh review is complete head canon. You decided "I don't know, therefore I do know". I mean, seriously, these are the only two pieces of information you have. Could you seriously not consider there's anything more to the situation than just that? At the most, the MOST, you can say it seems possible given their track record.

Aw, that sucks. If Nintendo did pay reviewers, they didn't need to because the game is amazing and even if reviewers at their full honesty were to give it a 7/10 that would still be a good score.

Zelda:BotW at first was a 10/10 for me but now it's more around 8.5/10.
Nintendo directly paying for good reviews is absurdly unlikely. All it would take is one person to leak some communication and not only would Nintendo have a lawsuit on their hands, their reputation would be ruined for years.
I think more likely is the idea that reviewers have more of a tacit understanding with big name publishers. We give you early copies, and hype up our game so people will flock to your sight for reviews, and you give it a good score.

i wonder why the switch and BOTW has stirred up so much review bashing BS,

you can be certain that reviews go through the chain of command so if this was true and IGN was paid to keep up the review scores they would only let their "trusted"*wink wink nudge nudge* reviewers publish the reviews for them, and if someone else lower down in their team came along like "hey guys look at me I haz a review like the big boys too :) :) :)", they would just kill it before it goes live.

I am well aware there is going to be a fair deal of "back scratching" going on in the review industry, but come on at least think out the plot before announcing your conspiracy theory, and big time sites will always have their reviews/articles vetted to make sure it adheres to their corporate alignments so it will never be this easy to call them out

I actually have my doubts that this was completely related to the Switch. I also highly doubt Nintendo paid for better reviews, because if they did, they would be going around trying to censor the rest of the bad reviews for the system.
If anything this only proves that people can get fired from their jobs.

of course they do. but as soon as you mistake potential for certainty, you've just admitted you don't have a clue.
I guess you arent familiar with probable cause. Im not going to argue with you Osaka,at the end of the day you can't tell people something that they don't want to hear. Ive proved to people that their girlfriend has cheated on them and they still don't want to believe it. Thats not my problem. Someone made a thread here saying that Nintendo Investors want the switch to fail so that they end up going into the mobile app market. Nintendo doesnt exist to make fanboys happy, they exist to turn a profit.
