I personally believe we should save miiverse. The only reason is for preservation reasons. To allow people to have a window through time. Because once its gone. Its gone for good, and nobody will be able to see it, and it will become something of just word of mouth. We have until November 8th to make the choice and progress to do so.

I personally think that it is ridiculous that Nintendo keeps ending these services that came with consoles just because they feel it is the end of life. I am kind of surprised that a class action lawsuit hasn't been brought against Nintendo for continuing to do this. I bought a console and it came with services. I want to be able to use these services for more than just 5 years. I certainly am not going to expect them to have servers running for decades upon decades, but when there are users that are still regularly using the service then they should be required to continue to support it. This reminds me of when sony got rid of other os.

Consideration is all people will do, actually save it willingly is another story. Yeah, it was probably %20 of wii u functionality but doesn't stop people from playing games which is the main function. It just means one less function of the wii u (and 3ds) that was implemented to be removed like the wii u tv app thingy, or losing nintendo wifi for wii games. Honestly, I wouldn't mind having miiverse if it was better implemented, but is not essential to games, it was nintendo's poverty version of trying to make a social network for a modern console. Xbox 360 has xbox live which was way better compared to this and it was released years after xbox live was a thing. The better question is when can we expect nintendo try consider conforming to a modern standard of network socializing? Or least have more freedom and less restrictions on them.

Removing other os didn't stop the PS3 from running games, which was the main function, but there was still a class action lawsuit over that.
Well I dunno about it, so sorry if i lack knowledge. i knew ps3 had option to install another os, but I dunno the whole story. Unless the other os was advertised during marketing, then i suppose it would require law suit cause it removed a advertised function, much like the vita and how some people got refund for false advertising vita. https://www.engadget.com/2014/11/25/sony-playstation-vita-ftc-refunds/

I don't think its worth the time and effort involved. I used Miiverse a few times and thought it was shit. Nintendo should provide a Sm4sh update which contains about 100,000 Miiverse posts so we will see something different every time we play on the Miiverse stage.

It was in the UK. Basically, sony advertised it as a feature, then required an update that removed that functionality. Under UK law, it's illegal to advertise something like that and then remove it/not have it available (more or less). Can't lie about stuff like that (the states has a much more lenient policy).

Had the update been optional, it may be a different story, but they lost because they broke the law. Not sure how it works with a console that has been discontinued, though. It could be sony was only liable as the console was still being supported and actively worked on.

Whether it's useful or not we shouldn't let such a huge aspect of a console get lost to time.
ok this is much worse now that more info has been dumped on us!
http://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/27329 serveral games, wiiu chat. And much more will be discontinued. For example. comments will NO LONGER WORK ON mario maker. smash bros uploads for youtube will stop working as well! And the tourment function for smash will stop working too. Blade reports will stop working in xenoblade chronicles X! Mario and donkey kong tipping stars will lose all community levels!

From what people say pvp isn't even worth it
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
I just been playing offline, and they give you a few bots here n there on your team to help battle. I don't think it's as funny as the other games tho, more battle oriented than humor, which kinda sucks, but I'm still early in it
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@BigOnYa, doesnt the game have a campaign mode?
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Yea, and co-op, but you can also start a pvp session and battle just with friends. You get special skill cards (powers) the more you play. And higher value cards, but you can only enable so many cards at a time.

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Toilet paper is considered the money, you collect and buy stuff with TP, kinda funny. Graphics are def better than the other games tho, I think they used Unity 5 engine.

@Xdqwerty, Many of them did before colour television was common.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Likely because black and white TV was in-expensive.

  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
It certainly wasn't inexpensive it cost the same as a new car back then
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
How much did a 1965 color TV cost?

For example, a 21-inch (diagonal) GE color television in 1965 had an advertised price of $499, which is equal to $4,724 in today's dollars, according to the federal government's inflation calculator.

@K3Nv2, take into consideration how economy was back then
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Yeah that's why they listed inflation rates
