I'll be moving to a new house with slightly less shitty internet than I have (which is about as fast as dial up) so after I move, should I get a PS3 or a PS4, and which model should I get? All the games I want to play are on both consoles, so which should I get?

    NO COFFEI!
IMO I own both and I think I can safely say PS3. Pros for the PS3:
-More good games. It's library is just bigger than the PS4. That obviously could change though.
-Another big point is pricing. Here in Canada you can get one with a controller for maybe 100 CAD, while a PS4 slim with a game is 380. Games also range from 5 to 15 CAD and PS4 games are 80 CAD! Controllers are also only like 10 dollars with a PS4 controller 75 dollars!
-You can hack your PS3 to pirate and such unlike the PS4 with nothing except running Linux on one of the first ever firmwares.
-Quite a few PS4 games from what I've seen have their previous titles on PS3.
-I've also seen more of their classics on PS3 but I could be wrong on this one
-Free online play is also a big one unlike the PS4 where you have to pay a really pricey monthly subscription
    -Some PS4 games have a PS3 version
-The phat model is backwards compatible with PS2 so 2 systems in one! While the PS4 has no backwards compatibility

    PS4 Pros:
    -Better graphics
    -Better controller
    -More silent
-I'd assume it lasts for longer
    -Future proof
-Better UI and such I'd also say

Hope this helps. I probably forgot a few things though!

If you do get a ps4, make sure is not the original launch one from 2013, the pro and slim both have the 5GHZ AC wifi in it so it may improve connection, but if you don't use wifi, perhaps is not a concern.

If you get a ps3 get the 2012 model that look like a grill, it has the slide open door instead of auto loading and ejecting one, so if anything happens like can't turn system on, least you can get the disc out.

Of course this suggestion is based on the idea you aren't buying the systems specifically for hacking and mods, but if you want to have free online game modes, buy ps3, if you want maybe better optimized online mode, buy ps4 But you will need playstation plus to use the online modes. Also, only very few games have cross play support like guilty gear xrd revelator which will play against ps3 and ps4 players regardless of the console, not many games support that function, and even less support the save swapping or the Cross buy option. Basically is the idea of ps3 having already a large collection of games available with a end to more this year and ps4 which should maybe continue for few more years, if you want newer games, you should get ps4, if you are content with what ps3 offers then you know what to do. :P

Yeah, online stuff isn't really a "sell point" for me. I do t really like to play online with others. I like the option though. I'd probably only use the online features for downloading games and such. I don't think I'd ever get the PS3 super slim, because it's too slim. If that think falls over all I got is a mess of broken parts. I do like the hacking/ home brew option, but again, that isn't a "must have" for me. But I do like the option. /EDIT/ I can get a Phat PS3 at Gamestop for $60-$80. Should I go that route? \EDIT\

I'd get a ps3. Slims are more reliable and less likely to YLOD. But hackable phats are more common and a little cheaper too. Just don't get a super slim. Can't hack those and that's no fun

on a side note, how many USB's do the fully BC PS3's have? and what size HDD? I think I'm going to get a phat, then YLOD proof it with some Arctic Silver, and I might make a new Chassis for it and install some Liquid cooling as well. there will most definitely be a HDD upgrade (4TB SSD anyone?) so I'm not concerned with that. also. thanks for the input guys!

Ps4 if you like uncharted 4 or upcoming games like gran turismo sport, last of us 2, red dead redemption 2, god of war 4 and more. There are some remastered games from ps3 to ps4, so if you don't mind paying for online gaming then get ps4. No idea about the model, I'd say the ps4 pro for full hd and 60 fps gameplay.

PS4 if you're looking forward to new releases, PS3 if you want hacking/Homebrew and a load of already released titles and hidden gems. Personally I own both.

This is quite a foolish question to be honest.
    These are different generations.
But if I HAD to choose, Id take modded PS3 over PS4 anytime.
PS4 library can be played on PC apart from 2 worthy exclusives (Bloodborne and UC4). PS3 has so many gems I cant even list them all....
    And you can mod it

Why not just get a PS3 first because it's so cheap. You'll never be able to finish all of the great games it offers anyway. I recently got myself a Ps3 with CFW for 70 Eur and it's the best investment ever made.

It isn't easy to mod as you think, you need to get the right downgradable model and need soldering skills or else pay for the downgrade service.

If you say so, I found many with cfw installed but they are overpriced here between 150/200 euro. Actually it isn't a bad idea for op to buy used and modded ps3 enjoying it till upcoming exclusive games like i mentioned on my post above.

I think I'm going to get a PS3 first, it's cheaper and easy to mod, ( I used to hard mod Wiis, 360s, and the first Xbox, among other things, like fire sticks and recently those little android tv box thingies I can't remember the name of rn. ) and for a few of the games I want to play online. Then I suppose Il get a PS4 for the things I'm REALLY looking forward to, like the FF7 remake, Elder Scrolls VI, Persona 5, and the like. Kinda want to play MGSV online too. I had it for PS3, but because of reasons (divorce, and she got everything except my dog) I can't play it anymore. PS3 was banned anyway.
