    Gambia, The
    WII-DOOM // WII-HERETIC // WII-HEXEN // WII-STRIFE (ALL-IN-ONE) for Nintendo Wii & Wii U (vWii) R33

Please read these lines carefully as they may be important in order to get the games running properly!
These game ports are the work of nitr8 and have been tested so far.

    PRE-INFO

WHY NEW RELEASES FOR DOOM, HERETIC, HEXEN and STRIFE?

    - i know that there are almost ports of these games with one exception: STRIFE

    - the ports existing have lots of bugs and are not what i expect to be *PROPER* game ports
(for me, they are just games that have been ported "quickly" without any sense of functionality)

    - this release includes all games that use the ID-TECH 1 (DOOM) engine

    COMPILING / TESTING INFO

    - Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr 32Bit Desktop
    - devkitPro (devkitPPC Wii-SDK) with GCC v4.8.2
    - Chocolate DOOM source code (includes the source of all 4 games)
    - several code snippets from here and there

    REQUIREMENTS

    - a Nintendo Wii Console with Homebrew Channel installed
    - an original Wii Classic Controller connected to the Wiimote (plays best)
    - an USB-drive or SD-card

    INSTALLATION

    - copy all of the directories to the "APPS" folder on your USB device

    - if you want, you can install the FORWARDER WAD's corresponding to your console using YAWMM

    - the main game IWAD for each game is required as well in order to get each game to run

    - DO NOT RENAME THE GAME DIRECTORIES AS THESE ARE SPECIFIC TO THE SOURCE CODE

    - DO NOT MOVE OR RENAME ANY OF THE FILES IN THE GAME DIRECTORIES THAT CAME WITH THIS RELEASE
(the RESOURCE PWAD's are named "psp....wad" because i re-used them from my PSP / PS VITA ports)

    GET THE GAMES RUNNING

    - whenever you start one of these games, you have to point it to the main game's IWAD file
(PLEASE NOTE THAT THE STRIFE SHAREWARE IWAD'S ARE NOT SUPPORTED AND MAY NEVER BE)
(PLEASE NOTE THAT FOR STRIFE, YOU HAVE TO COPY THE FILE "VOICES.WAD" INTO THE "VOICES" DIRECTORY IF
YOU WANT VOICES TO PLAY - IT WILL BE LOADED AUTOMATICALLY)
(PLEASE NOTE THAT FOR HACX, THAT ONLY THE HACX v1.2 REGISTERED IWAD IS SUPPORTED)
(PLEASE NOTE THAT FOR FREEDOOM, THAT ONLY THE FREEDOOM v0.8 PHASE 2 IWAD IS SUPPORTED)
(PLEASE NOTE THAT MOST OF THE DOOM IWAD's ARE SUPPORTED BUT NOT ALL)
(THE WII-DOOM PORT SUPPORTS DOOM, DOOM 2, FINAL DOOM, HACX, FREEDOOM, CHEX AND CHEX 2)

    - the corresponding RESOURCE PWAD's will be loaded automatically

    - if you wish, you can also load PWAD's with these releases for custom maps / graphics / sound / music

    BUG REPORTS

    - please report any bugs for each game to the corresponding game:

Is there compatibility for the Gamecube controller? WiiDoom lacked a button to toggle run as well as not being able to launch through the gamecube controller.

Sorry, but there is no support for such controllers like the Gamecube ones. The only full support included is for the Wii classic controller. I even don't own a Gamecube controller.

I definitely won't buy a Gamecube controller just for adding it's support. I'm sorry about that. To the other side: I currently don't even have the time to do more of such things. I will only do bug fixing because I'm going to get a father in the next few months and other, more important things have to get done.

I cannot make it work :(

I put the HERETIC.WAD file inside the apps\WiiHeretic\PWAD and whe run it inside the Homebrew Channel I select it, it says is the correct one, then I select the apps\WiiHeretic\pspheretic.wad and when pushing START, the program gives a error about no finding the pspheretic.wad in the working directory.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

    Thanks!

You don't need to select the resource PWAD "pspheretic.wad". Those files will be loaded automatically. When the game's WAD selector is running, then you have to point the WAD selector to the HERETIC.WAD file, highlight it and press button B. Then press button + and the game should start. Are you running the games from USB? I hope so cause the games need to be in "USB:/APPS/...".

Sorry, no. That's what I won't do. My only intention is fixing bugs. If I had the time then I would do more but time is running out. I won't have that much time any more in the near future as I had for porting these games. I'm going to become a father within the next few months. My child will need this time right now. Still need to get things done for this upcoming baby...

    Try the following:

Install the forwarders and run the channels from within USB Loader GX. This should work.

Nice job, no SD hurts, but it is your call :)

This won't work for a simple reason: USBL GX emu forwarders, when booted from within USBLGX, only ''see'' the SD card, HDD is unable to be mounted this way. To bypass this, one can launch the app via USBLGX's homebrew icon. The app can then see the HDD.

Can you boot from SD, while keeping the other files on USB?

This should work. The resource PWAD file, config file and other stuff like debug text are stored on / read from USB.

Btw: the forwarders contain the BOOT.DOL's.

Well not every forwarder, in fact forwarders just point to a boot.dol stored in some storage device, what is you refering is a channel, but create channel (boot.dol stored in NAND) is a less common practice nowadays

I have everything on my USB drive as you clearly stated how to install ths.
Yet upon starting any game the gui only lets me browse my sd card for the wad files.
Is there a way to switch between usb and sd card somehow?
Because as of now it's not usable for me.

On the dialogue where "SD-Card" is shown first, just press the "LEFT / RIGHT" buttons to select "USB" device. ;)
