Hourglass9 misc settings. See my post/thread above for save dumping/injecting.
I think hourglass9 loads the saves from /files9/ as gbavc.sav or gbavc1.sav-gbavc9.sav
Launch golden sun; exit the game and go into system settings, holding start when exiting to go into hourglass9 without rebooting. By going into hourglass9 without rebooting after launching the game it knows which title to pick. in hourglass9 go to misc settings and gbavc save inject.

It didnt work for me :/

Well after many times it kind of worked :s
The GS games have 3 save slots and it shows only the one that is cleared game data.what the hell :s

I recently did a save injection from VBA to an SRAM patched eeprom game. I had to dump the save using a payload tool called agbsave9. https://gbatemp.net/threads/pre-release-agbsave9-tool-to-extract-agb_firm-saves.410684/
After I exported a new save from the CIA I edited it in a hex editor like hxd, copying the hex of the save from VBA and pasting the hex into the blank save that I dumped with agbsave9. I used hourglass9 to import it though. I only had to go through the hex editing because eeprom games arent compatible and need the sram patch. As for golden sun I'm not sure since the roms use FLASH; which is bigger than sram so I'm not exactly sure (EEPROM, 512b; SRAM, 32KB; FLASH, 64KB)

To dump a gbavc save with agbsave9 it's similar to the method using hourglass9

Another thing I could recommend is to use vba to export the battery file as SAV rather than renaming your SRM to SAV. That might be it

Are there exact instructions on how to use the Pokemon save hacks, I fixed the white screen in the gba file with Visualboyadvance but when injecting the gba file I did not check the box next to the load button. (I will make this clearer after trying it again, all of my Pokemon cia files came up withe a white screen after loading even though I had fixed them previously).....Russ
What game(s) are you trying to inject?

Pokemon Ruby
Pokemon Emerald
Pokemon Fire Red
Pokemon Leaf Green
Pokemon Sapphire
and Pokemon Mystery Dungeon

The patches are .ips so you'll need to use Lips before using the injector, it has a feature to patch at the end but i recommend doing it before. The Injector will automatically choose the settings, use them and create the cia as normal. In case you need further help just PM me so we don't flood here

I don't know for sure if this fixes the problem of saving but you simply randomize the Title ID , don't load the patches and save the cia, I am testing Mystery Dungeon to see if it saves .............. rcamp48

It did not for ruby

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I am trying a new method for ruby, go to VBA, run ruby , then save your game, install cia without changing game id, patch ruby manually, then install cia on 3DS , shut off 3ds and use decrypt9 to inject save... I will let you know if it works ...... rcamp48

Current version: 1.6b (01-19-2017)

Hello everyone. Today I'm releasing a Windows tool that will make the GBA injection process much easier and customizable. I'm introducing Ultimate GBA VC Injector for 3DS.

What does it do?:
It takes a GBA backup file and converts it to an installable CIA for your 3DS with CFW. It does all in a one single program.

Features:
  • VC GBA injection into a CIA
  • Easy made custom 3D banner
  • Easy made custom text/footer banner
  • Easy made ghosting/bright configuration
  • Easy made rom patching.
  • Easy made whole process!

Requeriments: Microsoft .NET framework 4.5

Tutorial:
You'll just follow the steps in program. But just in case:

Step 1:

Open the program. You'll see this screen:
iadCB6d.png

Press Open GBA File button. It'll prompt you to pick a .gba file.
279Gn2y.png

For this tutorial I'll pick the game Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow.

The application will try to guess the parameters for step 1 reading the rom file. If there's no luck with that, the application will search the rom in an offline database.

gQyiILw.png

When you pick a rom you'll be able to go to Step 2 (icon and name).

Step 2:
This is the Step 2 main screen:
4fbdQR8.png

All the fields are explained in the info boxes, but let me know if something doesn't understand.

Complete the fields making the most legit as possible (if you want to). For example:
wvdTBUa.png

I used a title screen screenshot in it's original size as icon (the program will automatically stretch it).

When you complete all the fields you'll able to go to Step 3 (3d banner).

Step 3:
This is the Step 3 main screen:
lOT0Jvt.png

Note: The program will load some default values (based on those in Step 2), but you can anyway replace these default values with ohter ones.
Example: if you want the icon and 3D banner to have different images, then first complete Step 2 with the icon image that you want and then complete Step 3 with the banner image that you want. Otherwise if you are too lazy or you want the same standard as legit VC CIA, leave it as is.

For this example, I'll let the same banner image as the icon one, but I'll edit the bottom banner, importing a custom one I made with GIMP (using the import and use custom footer image option):

RgLq1Hd.png

You can also make your own text banner without leaving the application, as a quick and easy solution. You can change the font type, size, and brightness. Also there's a preview of that text banner (ignore the red borders, they won't be there in the console).

Doing my changes for this example:

nmKrPcv.png

When you complete or modify all the fields you'll able to go to Step 4 (VC parameters).

Step 4:
This is the Step 4 main screen:
dTX3tXr.png

Yaaay! A lot of options!

Ghosting Adjustment:
Set to 0xFF (None) for a non-ghosting game.

Color Config: Set to Original (no dark filter) to disable the dark filter at all.

Sleep patch: Attempt to apply a sleep patch to the rom. Some (most of) games won't even launch when applying sleep patch, so be careful with it.

For this tutorial, I want no ghosting, dark filter disabled, and sleep patch activated.

h8dbR1J.png

Once we have everything ready, press Finish button.

That's it! The application will ask you where do you want to save the CIA file and It took some seconds to create it.
When the CIA is ready, the application will let you know it.

7pppToV.png

Then you can install the CIA in sdcard using any CIA manager (actually I use the new FBI).
(The tutorial's screenshot are from v1.0)

Console screenshots:
EquBDH1.png
KshggB1.png

Sorry for this one's quality
TODO, petitions, etc: For now I'll just read this thread and make changes acording to the best for all. The code will be released much later; I'm planing to do a series of VC injectors... If a new version comes, I'll post here and I'll edit the OP.

Changelog:
v1.6b:
* Fixed the banner resizing (a.k.a. "there's a black line on the bottom of the banner").
* Fixed the bug that causes line breaks on the Title name and publisher to become question marks.

v1.6:

+ Added: Automatic title screen and/or box cover download! Thanks to @natinusala!
* Fixed the SRAM patch crash. Now you can SRAM patch well.
* Fixed the ampersands missing on the game name.
* Better quality icon and banner resizing.
* Got rid of the interpolation mode selection.

v1.5:
+ Added: Now you can colour the 3D Banner!
* Fixed: Support for Windows XP (Now it uses Framework 4.0).

v1.3d:

+ Added: Native SRAM patching. Now you don't need gbata to patch your roms!
+ Added: Native IPS patching. Now you can apply an IPS patch directly before making the CIA.
* Fixed the issue with SRAM patched roms.

I1Dyaam.png

v1.2:

+ Added: More rom compatibility (it fills with zeros the rom until it has a common size, i.e. 4MB, 8MB, etc). This may improve patched roms rompatibility.
+ Added: Now the random Title ID's won't match an eShop app Title ID.
* Changed: Now it generates a new Title ID every time you pick a gba rom.
* Fixed Issues with 32 bits OS (A.K.A. 'Could not find code.bin' error).

v1.1:

+ Added: Now you can import a pre-made GBA VC CIA and jump straight to Step 4!.

v1.0b:
Fixed a bug with the 24x24 icon generation (bad resizing).

v1.0:
Initial release

Enjoy!

Is your ROM not working? Try this instead.

Thanks to @CheatFreak47 and @Cornholio309 for feedback, reports, help, information, resources and testing!

Hey you! Thank you SO much for this tool! I have been using this for like 2 months now. I have one serious question though....

I am trying to inject a few homebrews that are TOP NOTCH at the moment, they have also been ported to cartridges by Piko Interactive.

My issue is that when I open the rom's in the GBA VC Injector Tool, they show no save type. None of the save type boxes are selected. So I have been looking ALL over the internet to find the save types for these roms...

But the information is not located anywhere that I have noticed.

Could you or someone here help me out?

Should I just select ANY save type for them?

Orrrrr?

EDIT : I have 3 homebrews that I am trying to inject. One of them is working and says it's EEPROM. One of them checks the "none" box. But the MAIN one I want to Inject, doesn't check ANY box, and gives me a pop-up saying "unable to detect save type, please complete it manually."

Please someone let me know how to get around this.

Maybe their respective homebrew authors would know better than us random people who don't even know which games are you talking about?

I am asking what to do when the software gives that error....

I doubt the people who programmed the game, would have any idea what to do on a piece of software that they haven't heard of, and has nothing to do with their game.

Edit : Also, the main game I am having problems with (the one that is giving me the error), is called Anguna - Warriors of Virtue

It's a well known homebrew for GBA.

If they don't know which kind of saves their own games are supposed to use, I doubt anybody else will.

Does that homebrews ever uses save data? If no, just choose any save type. If they do, try using gbata, maybe it shows the save type of the rom.

I am not asking which type of save it uses... That is what I was saying in the last post I replied to you in.....

Thanks for the Reply. I used GBATA earlier before I made the first post, and it says "Save Type : None"

I don't know if you have ever heard of Anguna - Warriors of Virtue... But it's a well known homebrew, kind of like TLOZ.

I am not sure if it uses save data or not, I haven't played it yet.

The reason I am confused is because If I import a rom into GBA VC Injector and it doesn't use save data, then GBA VC Injector says "Save type - None". Yet with this one game (Anguna) it gives me that odd error and it checks no boxes, and greys out the procees to next step button.

Edit : I have just emailed the author of the game itself. I am not sure if he will even get back to me lol but he is not on any forum or anything that I know of, so I had to email him through a bug ticket for the game on his website.

But still, if any of you happen to figure it out, and can help me out... then let me know.

Thanks in advance! ;]

Its the same as Super Mario Advance 4 , D0088D8342 you just 00 the next 3 values after that
But I am missing something as it still does not save properly I tried injecting the ips file for it with
GBA IP Patcher, I hear that you have to use Lips but I have no idea what that is but I learn fast.

Ok I figured it out and have saved it as No save type , I have a screen shot that I will upload for you it is the perfect size I also verified that it reloads, I guess that it uses its own type of save that is carried over in the cia for the publisher just put in Nathan Tolbert .... here is the screen shot ... Russ

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I need permission from the Ops to upload the cia of Anguna Warriors of Virtue here as it is Homebrew however I wont do it until I get permission, I got it working perfectly it saves ok and I put the publisher name as Nathan Tolbert in both the cia filename and the cia itself.... rcamp48

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Sleep mode works in Anguna Warriors of Virtue
