Use the first option, A: NCCH padgen (games), well anything to do with NCCHINFO.bin really.

B is for eshop stuff/generating xorpads for stuff already installed on your sd card (SDInfo.bin)
X is for decrypting titlekeys (encTitleKeys.bin), so you could redownload eshop titles etc you have with one of the various tools out there, for eg: cdn_download.py)
Y is for generating your nand fat16 xorpad.

For doing manual system transfers, region changing your emunand, and other NAND related things (IIRC)

No, they won't be faster, as long as you rely on makerom it be much much slower and consume a lot of ram. Not to mention extracting partitions with rom_tool takes time and space as well. That's also the reason why whole thing isn't x86-friendly.

Sorry about the inaccurate comment to your tool from the other guy. I'm actually the author of this tool. Remember we discussed about supporting DownloadPlay in your thread? Since you didn't plan to support it, I finally made my own script.

Relying on rom_tool & makerom is definitely, as you said, much slower, consuming lots of ram and not x86 friendly. It's nothing compared to your tool in its current state. So I never meant to release it here before the next two releases. I only released this in a Chinese forum for public beta to get some feedback.

This guy has never asked for my permission and it's funny to see him pretending to be the author and making stupid comments. (and the translation of the main thread is awful!)

This worked for about 6 roms then stopped. I closed it, re-did everything and restarted it but it just sits there doing nothing now :/

3.run Decrypt9 with NINJAHAX get 000400000011c500.exheader.xorpad
4.put xorpad file in xorpads folder p.s. I only has 1 xorpad file someone tell me should has 2
5.run convert.py
6.no cia file in roms folder but I see 3 files in temp folder

I was finally able to convert Bloo Kid 2 EUR to cia.

The only problem now is how do I make it region-free?
I'm currently trying it in GW mode and it's stalled at the Nintendo 3DS screen.
I tried going on eshop to make the game run, but it's the USA eshop... so no dice

I'm not comfortable doing this in Pasta / Region spoof + eshop spoof yet...

Anybody have access to the RF version yet?
(I have the USA DSiWare version, but I can't use that on GW...)

I'd like to know this too. Got a buncha J games for a U system.

Thank you very much! After reading other guides that involves downloading rxTools etc this has to be the most easiest/basic guide to convert a .3ds into .cia. This tool does exactly what I want and is very noob friendly.

I really like the part where you can convert multiple .3ds instead of "one at a time" process.

Thanks for this tool, worked great! I was only going to convert 1 rom but since it said it could do a batch, I converted all my dumps that I thought I might play in the future, all nicely installed on my home menu now :-)
