Yes, that's what I mean. My card won't show up anymore, so I can't do upgrades or anything. Also tried it on a DS Lite, also 'no card inserted' :( I use the Chinese update file for 6.0.0, mentioned here, the upgrader is called 'R4i Flash Writer'. Is there anything I can do about this? As said before, I already tried card-swapping, but the upgrade program doesn't have an option that allows that (see this thread I posted: http://gbatemp.net/threads/bricked-r4-dual-core-2013.350449/#post-4694225). Maybe another firmware upgrader will do the job?

If your card already was bricked than i think it is not possible to unbrick it, i have tried it but did not succeed.
I tried it on a lite, the same as you experienced it froze at erasing, with an dsixl it erased and did the flash but after that the card still was bricked.

The chinese update i think only benefits those who flashed their 2013 with with the "NEW" firmware an so locked their card out for the 5.1 nintendo firmware.

Maybe someone else has more info on unbricking and "hot flashing" the r4i....

Hey, my webshop also released the 'official' firmware updates today, but very strange that there is nothing on r4isdhc.com.

And it still updates to 5.07 while Pong20302000 states that the last official firmware update is version 5.02.

A friend of mine has an R4 SDHC Dual-Core, the one with the red "2013" on the top right. He has a DSi with firmware 1.4.3 and when he puts his card into the console it doesn't detect it, and says that no game card is inserted. Thinking the DSi antipiracy might be the culprit I put the flashcart into my DSLite but the thing just whitescreens regardless of the kernel on the microSD.

I think the cart might be bricked.

I booted my Supercard and ran the supposed firmware update, then swapped flashcarts and confirmed. When it got to the "erasing" part it froze. I figured the cart swap might not be working so I patched the updater to .ds.gba and wrote it to my EZflash 3in1, so I could boot the updater without swapping the R4 but got the same result. I don't think my .ds.gba patching is at fault here since if I leave my Supercard in, it surprisingly DOES attempt to flash it, going through all the progress and completing(don't worry, it can't brick my SC because it's an older model with non-rewritable chip, also different hardware).

When I turn on the console with the R4 already in place, the patcher says "current version: unknown!". The behaviour is very inconsistent, as it sometimes says the cart is version 6.something, even 7, and sometimes 0.55. I assume this is either some sort of residual data or the chip inside the R4 is faulty. I've tried updates from various clones and versions. ALL of them freeze at "erasing". I simply cannot update the thing's firmware!

Any advice on how to diagnose or unbrick this thing will be very welcome.

You must sacrifice the head of a chicken while singing the Song Of Healing From "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time" while atop Mount Everest during a full moon of The Winter Solstice. Only then will your card be unbricked.

Had to register to share the wonderful news :)

The update for R4i SDHC Dual Core 2013 is NOW AVAILABLE! It can also FIX bricked 2013 cards! YAAAY :)
Below is the link for the firmware update:
http://pan.baidu.com/share/link?shareid=967244462&uk=1795683192

FYI, the download site is in chinese, just click the icon with the arrow pointing down, download, put the file in your sd card, then run the .nds file on an available DS or DS Lite. Follow the instructions then you're all set.

If your 3DS doesn't want to boot the card, try replacing the "_ds_menu.dat" in the root of your SD card with this one:
http://pan.baidu.com/share/link?shareid=961736620&uk=1795683192

Or you can download the entire kernel here:
http://pan.baidu.com/share/link?shareid=1204718603&uk=1795683192

Mine worked without replacing the kernel files, and this was a BRICKED card. It finally worked after the firmware update :)

Below is the link to the original R4iSDHC Chinese forum regarding the update (just use google translate for all you non-chinese speaking dudes)
http://www.r4isdhcbbc.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=18479&extra=page=1&page=1

Is anybody kind enough to supply me with good download links? These just load forever, and i think this is the solution to my problems.
Just upload them on something that'll load faster,or please tell me how to load these websites. They just never open. It's blank and loading icon keeps spinning on google chrome. Pretty please :) thanks

Recently? I had done it with no problems.

Your card prob says 5.03 and the is updated to 6.0 correct?
Do you get the white screen when you press A on a game? If so just chhange your kernel to an old version and problem solved.

No. It just doesn't let me open it. When i open the dsi,i click on the r4i and bam. It's just a white screen. I didn't turn it off during the update. I only reset when it asked me to. This is horrible...

Yeah we've seen a handful of people with this happen to them (mostly with the spongebob icon IIRC).

You'll need another flash cart and an original DS or a Lite in order to unbrick it, and that's assuming that it's just a messed-up bootloader and the cart's not actually broken (which can happen).

Isn't this something the company should be responsible of,considering it was their fault for uploading a seemingly faulty file?
Sure... if they were an honest US/UK group or something.

But they're a Chinese flash cart company. They don't give a fuck, the laws can't make them give a fuck, and they KNOW that nobody's going to fly to China and take them to court or something over a $20 device's update file. If they fuck something up or stop being able to update properly, they just put out a new model and tell people to buy that one instead.

Though you could try contacting the site you bought it from, if it was recent. They tend to have more credibility and care than the actual flash cart teams half the time and have been known to do replacements in certain situations.

Correct ^^
Manufacturers dont sell cards to people, resellers did.. so you will need to contact your reseller and hope they can exchange it for you ^_^

& is no ones responsibility if someone runs the wrong update... /: I do know that some cards cant be updated if they have a different version installed on it (thats when I would get a white screen)

The manufacturers do run the website on which they release improper software to the people. I didn't run the wrong update. The update fucked my card up.
