Hacking Question about phat PS3s and CFW

I realize it wouldn't be free. Some people do it on Ebay for $30-$40 I just noticed. I already have every PS3 game that I want for the most part I just want to have them digitally where I can switch between games without switching discs. It's something I have for 360, PS2, Wii and Wii U already. I'm also not really that big on playing online just into offline gaming so it's something I would like.

hey man are you still looking to buy a modded ps3 i have one that doesn't work online but seems to work for most things just fine also it may need a new ribbon cable for the blue ray drive but other than that its just fine

Question will I be able to transfer my saves from my unmodded Slim PS3 to my modded PS3? The unmodded system I found a data transfer utility but it makes you update the console receiving the save data to the newest firmware.
