I have both and I would just get the slim. It will have more accessories and the same game library, albeit a worse screen but you'll never notice it. You'll also get longer battery life too.

I didn't buy one, yet. I ALMOST got an old 1k from eBay, and despite having last-minute texts set up to let me know when someone beats my bid, I didn't get any notice and some asshat bought it out from me for a dollar more than I had bid for it. *sigh*

Another assclown posted his Vita Slim with a case and 32 GB card on Craigslist, but he has not responded to either my initial email or text in over 24 hours. Jackass.

Unless I find a 1K cheaper, I think I'm gonna take your advice and go with the Slim. The stuff you mentioned, especially the non-saturation/low-light LCD, makes a lot more sense now.

Slim if you want to use 64gb cards. Been some issues with 64gb with Gen 1. Else the Slim have better battery and you can probably find one new inbox.

I have 2 64gb cards and I haven't had any issues with the Gen 1 unit as of yet.It could have been older firmware that was having issues. Both my units(slim/fat) are on 3.60 fw.

i traded my 1000 for a 2000. trust me go slim. the difference in the screen is NOT much and the 2000 in your hands for long periods of time just feels better.

also in my experience, the 1000 would always drop connection to remote play. on my new 2000 its blazing fast

I hated the 1000 because id get tired of holding it after a while

I agree Doomsday..the slim is lighter and tends to be the choice due to the micro-usb charger etc..The fat version is great for people with bigger hands and the OLED is amazing...It's preference really...Personally I like my 3G fat model because I have a spare sim I use it for Cricket wireless and get the unlimited data..Gives it the added extra..

Hardware longevity is always an issue in my mind.

OLED has longevity issues, to this day (even though the deep blacks and whatnot are nice with OLED). I also find it totally unnaturally saturated. On the other hand, the connector on the OLED model is far more robust than MicroUSB in my opinion. MicroUSB is mechanically inferior to me. The advantage is that MicroUSB is common and has a small connector, but the small connector is the a mechanical disadvantage in my opinion; too much mechanical stress over a tiny surface area.

But you can buy MicroUSB magnetic connectors on ebay to solve that problem (they would disconnect easily if the cable were tugged). With all that said, and if I only had to choose one, I'd choose the Slim.

I agree about the Micro USB..they tend to wear out prematurely and start loosing connection at the PCB itself.Plus with all the lead free solder being used now it just breaks away easier also.As for the OLED I haven't seen many issues with the over saturated display that I can recall. But it could be with certain games played etc. and I never noticed.Since Sony dropped the ball on the Vita they can be had fairly easy where I'm located.People practically give them away on Craigslist because of the game support. But it's preference.I like the fat better due to the fact I have the 3g model and unlimited data on Cricket wireless. That's a plus..

Go for oled vita if you want to have a real sharp picture and colors. In my personal experience even psp games became playable. Enjoying gtavcs right now.
Also it has 1 gig more build in memory than 2k vita. 2k also claims to have longer battery life but I never felt like my vita lacks mAh.

the slim vita has the 1gb built in memory.

and yes it does have a longer battery life by a few hours, you not noticing it doesn't make it any less true.

Honestly? Unless you're looking at both, side by side? You won't notice to a different when just playing the game. Also, the slims battery life is far better. Average run time for me is 8-9 hours on medium brightness with WiFi and Bluetooth. The OLED model barely hit 6 hours.

I read a comment in this thread which mentioned that OLEDs should be saved for TVs. This comment makes no sense at all, the mobile phone market is the next to employ the use of OLED. Make no mistake, the OLED screen is gorgeous to play back Vita games and not only vita games but now PSP and a whole back catalogue of retro games. They look vivid, with rich deep colour and true black when it is required - something that LED/LCD cannot do (being back-lit). There are side by side comparisons of the 2 across the net, one of the most noticeable being a comparison of a snow level on Borderlands 2. The colours are very different, the OLED looks far superior. But hey, don't take my word for it, search for some comparison videos and check it out for yourself.

    Fat has 2.5gig ur0 partition.
About battery life, what I meant was that I have played on quite a few portable consoles, including n3dsxl and I don't feel like oled vita lacks battery life, not that it's as much as slim has.
The only downside I guess is that 1k is limited to 32GB cards. I hope a limit soon to be broken by an adapter.
    Cheers.

So PSP games look much better on the 1k OLED screen? Guess that's the best choice then.
