3ds cart dumping is not possible from the system
this was fixed with the dsi
you cannot swap out the cartrige
that and the carts run in ds mode not 3ds mode
the only way to dump them would be some elaborate circut setup

Anyone try dumping them via a PC DS Card reader? Just curious as to if that work, but I guess someone could make their own rig if needed.

EDIT: Something like this.

Since the R4 and SuperCard DS2 work on the 3DS (for now), do you think we could use this same method to dump 3DS games?

And if so, what do you think the filename extension should be?
DSTWO WORKS??

Seriously??

Btw, back on post. I think the extension will be .3d or .n3ds, since it is likely not .3ds

They could, and since using a regular DS Dumper probably won't work, and I'm sure that the 3ds cart has some other type of security measure inside of it, the maker of the dumper would have to make a new one based off of old one as well find a workaround for the cart.

Even then, 3ds mode has to crack in order for ANY type of progress for 3ds roms. I dont see any of this starting until the middle of the other half of this year.

Dumping games via a ds dumper might be possible, I don't think Nintendo uses the same slot with two different pinout...

The main problem will be the encryption of those cartridges.

I cant help but think our lack of access to 3ds mode makes this near impossible.....but ehh what do i know...

Also..Still hoping it doesn't get hacked

.3ds?

.3ds is used for autodesk 3DS max.
.nds was used by something before pirates too.
Nobody cares about extension's being in use already.
It's not a trademark or anything.

And no, of course a DS cart can't let you dump a 3DS cart, or downloaded game.

Maybe we can TRY to dump an 3DS game using a DS Dumper.

We can try to cut the "lug" of a 3DS cartridge or open both a DS and a 3DS game and swap the plastic housing...To have a DS plastic housing with a 3DS game inside...

Then we can put a 3DS Game in a DS Lite and try to dump the game...

Even if you could dump 3ds games you'd probably be in the same situation we are in with DSi games and the iEvo. My understanding is that many DSi enhanced games were dumped incorrectly to support the DSi functions so they don't work on the iEvo. They need to be re-dumped properly so the iEvo can access them. So while it might be interesting to do from a technical standpoint, it probably won't lead to anything significant in the short term.

I have try SMS2, it can not be dumped but destroy my SSF4 save, I think someone should try to fix the dumper or program is OK, 3DS game cart is not something new for us.

The thing only came out a week ago and you wan't the ROMS already? The emulation is impossible and we will need to wait 3 years until 3DS mode will be hacked... But dumping may be possible but it will take alot of time to dump a 2gb rom...

Since swapping is not possible I think some would have to create a special hardware to dump roms or at least open up the 3DS and do something with it.
