If you had to choose between the two, which would you choose?
(assuming you had a PC capable of both and both screens were the same refresh rate and size)

3D.

It's a shame, that only a few titles support it. I loved playing Silent Hll Downpour in 3D.

4K? Come on... who's gonna make such wonderful graphics and textures, that 4K is really needed? AAA Titles are already having development times of 2-3 years. How long should we wait

I've never cared for 3D. Even on my 3DS I never touch it. Then again, I can't say I care that much about the resolution either. I just want a smooth and clear experience, which 1080p at 60fps is generally enough for me in that aspect.

Unfortunately, Nvidia has been dropping the ball on their 3DVision system the past couple of years. Luckily, other developers patch games to get 3DVision compatibility. The 3DVision 3D effect is significantly better than the 3DS 3D effect because you can fully adjust convergence and depth. The size of screen you need to tell the pixel difference of 4K is huge, so 3D all the way.

Barely any games support 3d and new games wont bother with it to cater to a few people that actually have it
Its still too early for 4k

So neither

I actually blame this both on game developers and GPU makers (Nvidia & AMD).

For GPU makers, they offer either paid API (Nvidia 3D Vision/3DTV Play) or broken/no longer maintained API (AMD HD3D).
For game developers, they are not taking advantage of quad buffering introduced in Windows 8.

More resolution works for the things I do. 3d is pretty much pointless 5 minutes after the first "heh, that is cool" moment.
