Misc playing games on wifi w/o routers

hi there,
i've just gotten my ds lite (with supercard dsone and 512mb microsd card).

i'm wondering how do i even start to connect to a wi-fi network?
what are the steps involved? (i've never used wi-fi even on laptops)

i'm living in singapore, and we have free wi-fi zones at macdonalds, starbucks and our city zones.

as a start, let's say i want to play mariokart online wifi, how do i go about it?

at those free wi-fi zones you should just do the option to connect to access point or AP and it will auto detect then you can connect. If for some reason it needs a specific key or then you can enter it in. its not too hard go try!
