Hardware PHILIPS DVD + RW DVD 8801 help

Hey! my friend has a PHILIPS DVD + RW DVD 8801 drive. it was working when he bought it, it was working. and most of the time he uses it for warcraft 3's original cd. he had to reinstall his computer one day and after that day, his cd drive can only read WC3 CD... wierd eh? all other discs are not detected at all. and the drivers are there, they are most likely the latest ones according to "update driver" button in device manager.. any have any experience please help

go on to the website, and see if there are updated drivers

Take out the disk and then restart the computer and see what happens. That doesnt work put in a new disk restart and see what happens. If that does not work shut the computer down disconnect the DVD drive then reconnect it using preferably using a different IDE cable.
