Gaming PAL Wii upgrade GC games to 480P?

Hi all

I have a PAL cube and the component cables and all my games are in NTSC to take advantage of 480P (as im aware, hardly any PAL games have the 480P feature in them.)

If i was to switch to a PAL wii, lets assume for now (because compatibility isnt great) that my NTSC gamecube games wont work. If I had the PAL versions, would the Wii upscale PAL games that werent meant to display progressive scan in the first place or would i be stuck with interlaced mode?
