hi all,

Following this site for a long time now but imo i had to react.
There is something fuzy about those discs/dumps

The godfather game ripped be WIIERD was also a fake PAL RELEASE. They do it so it looks like they've released the game a few days before release date. They do also release proper PAL games. I've nothing against them, but with this release it should have been a proper PAL release because the USA firmware update is on the disc.
I don't want to be rude but here i have a modded wii with wiikey, changed language to all possible options, not updated what so ever (no wifi here) but there ISN'T ANY UPDATE on the disc! Original and Wiierd one.
So was wondering how you figured that out?

I wanna try to get the data from the originals and the copy because i have most of them at least the PAL ones.
I wanna compare disc info with the ISO's so i can figure out what is going on.

Imo different country's get different copy's some are multi but some are english only.
And why is that?
That is what i wanna figure out alsoe the fact why it is possible that Nintendo does port a NTSC to PAL and release them in PAL regions

They showed a boxshot your know. From the pal box of both cooking mama and bust-a-move.

If you open the files with a hexeditior youl'll be able to see that it was already packed 2 month ago... Mhh, let me think... when was the US Version released...
But I guess they just had the PAL Version for 2 month now and totally forgot to release it... LOL!

Someone asked me what I used to get the rom info I posted earlier, the tool used to get that info is called wiso.

Really, I don't care about the other Wiierd releases, but this one definitely is a fake, and anyone with a PAL Wii can confirm that by setting the language to something other than English. All real PAL releases show English text when the selected language is not available, but this one crashes.
It still works with some trouble, so no hard feelings, but it's not good to call an NTSC release PAL.

WiiERD did the same with the Dragonball release, it's proven that this was a NTSC patched PAL game! So why shouldn't they do it again?!

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy that we have release Groups that supply us with good stuff. But it's sad that the competition between the groups leeds some of them to release NTSC Games as PAL ones... Maybe WiiERD just thought: "Oh, Dragonball wasn't nuked, so why dont do it again...?!" or maybe WiiERDs Source is just not good.... I don't know. But I do know that I'm willing to wait 2-3 days longer for a release that is truely a PAL Version. Doesn't matter if scene release or just a good ol' Homemade dump

Really sad that it's nowadays just about the competition and the "who-has-the-longest-here"-thing and not about good releases...

Uh no! Nintendo encrypts the DVD contents and add the Wii iso headers, not the developers of the game. If it says "E", it is a USA game, not a PAL game.

Wing Island PAL Wiierd is also patched. How come only Wiierd dumps PAL games where the developer is lazy and don't change the "E" to a "P"?

Face it, WIIERD IS PATCHING US GAMES TO PAL GAMES TO GET MORE CREDITS ON THEIR FTP SITES.

EDIT: I've now also compared Cooking Mama USA with Cooking Mama PAL Wiierd, and the only differences are at offset 0004E003 (changed from 01 (USA) to 02 (PAL)) and offsets 0004E010-0004E01F. This is exactly what the region changer does. The Cooking Mama PAL Wiierd ISO is dated 3/28/2007, 1 1/2 month ago. The US cooking mama was released 6 days earlier, 3/22/2007. Anyone who, after all the evidence, still believes Wiierd must be an idiot with an IQ less than a cockroach.

EDIT2: Expect future Wiierd releases to change their patched US releases so the date of the iso matches the date they release the game, and that the "E" (USA) is changed to a "P" (PAL).

Thanks for the info! No more WiiERD Release for me from now on...
The bad thing about it is that, nobody at the scene regognizes these facts and so the releases aren't nuked, so that we could hope for a proper version...
But as I said, maybe they just have a bad Source... who knows?!

Yeah looks like it.

I downloaded the game and now i have 3 versions here:

Cooking_Mama_USA_WII-SYNDiCATE (defo US)
Cooking_Mama_PAL_Wii-WiiERD (seems to be PAL/UK)
and
Cooking_Mama_PAL_MULTI5_READ_NFO_Wii-WiiERD (which seems to be a real PAL)

This made me thinking, WiiERD stated in NFO that there first Cooking Mama was a PAL release brought by some 1 from the UK.

So i did a little research and found a funny thing.

NTSC regions use the following languages ENG/FRA/SPA

Apparently Nintendo sells NTSC Wii's in a PAL region because when i look at there proof they really should have had a PAL (from UK) version!

But like said here in topic, when you do a info check it says Countrycode: E (NTSC/USA).
That is strange, isn't UK a PAL region, yes it is!!! How the hell does Nintendo ship NTSC games to the UK then?

My first thought was that the main language in the UK is english and there drive might be region free, and because UK people only can chose between 3 languages (ENG/FRA/SPA) it's ok to ship NTSC games to the UK and allways will play because off the languages options!

This is based on the fact that there next release is indeed a PAL version that plays on all languages you can select on a REAL PAL (where you can chose between 6 languages!) wii, and a little research offcourse

A bit more details, imo the Wii does 2 things, The drive inside does a region check (very basic) PAl or NTSC? My wii (PAL) is modded and region free and WiiERD's first release is apparently a NTSC so my Wii passed the region test. So far so good.
But because i have set my Wii on German it will fail second test, because NTSC regions only have ENG/FRA/SPA in it so my Wii crashed and needed a reboot

So short review, Nintendo sells NTSC Wii's in a PAL region and have changed options in there Wii so they can play both NTSC and PAL!

No, you seem to be forgetting that the time stamp of their so called PAL cooking mama was 3/28. They're obviously lying like politicians. Also, the drive doesn't do any region checking AT ALL. Nintendo only sell PAL Wii's in Europe/Australia. These Wiis only play PAL Wii and GC games unless you mod it. UK Wiis are PAL Wiis, and not some kind of Super Wii which can play US and PAL Wii games.

I think that there are no PAL games in UK. They are just getting the NTSC versions of all games and consoles but the prints on the box and console says it is PAL. But when i put wiierd's first cooking mama into my wii i can select 3 languages english, french and spanish. Even the english wii has only 3 languages in their menu settings ( just like a NTSC wii ) all other PAL wii's have 6 languages like it used to be. So i guess it is released as a PAL cause they live in PAL region but actually whole UK has ntsc games and console
