You need to convert. Luckily godmode9 can convert .3ds to .cia fairly easily. I believe there are also PC programs to do it.

i think i saw in the pdf, that the card can do it as well. not sure if will work 100%.. i will check the godmode9. i think that's what on it i think

so this card install a CFW. and I don't need to worry if Nintendo is pushing a new FW out?
it's been so long I was into this..
and how do I see the difference ?

Don't think I need a 3DS card inserted anymore either then?

GodMode9 will be the easiest way, aside from PC, but that invovles transfering. GM9 you just highlight the .3ds file, and press A, then A again. https://3ds.guide/godmode9-usage#converting-a-3ds-to-cia

    Seems to work?
    https://github.com/ntrteam/ds_ntrboot_flasher/issues/25

I'd pop the shell open and make sure the PCB matches what's in that thread though. Dual Cores can be mysterious and deceiving.

You'll probably just boot into the Luma chainloader or configuration.

    New bie ask
I try ntrboot with my brick old 3ds XL. R4 sdhc dualcore 2017, succesfull injecting. Prepared file as 3ds guide, but 3ds not triggering. 3ds just blinking blue light about 1 second and then turning off again.
Start, select, and x butyon properly pushed.
Magnet is working, file is ok, confusing what is wrong. If someone know what is wrong, really appreciated. Thank you
Sorry problem cannot share image here

A friend is trying to do this with her R4i SDHC Dual Core 2015; She got it to the point in the guide where you press continue after selecting her card and RETAIL, and this screen is where the process hung up:
    23405983_10212383905005475_1324974103848471185_o.jpg
She's following the guide and using the dsi version as stated. Any constructive advice would be appreciated, as I don't have this myself to work on. Also, for firmware restoration, anyone got a clean backup for that card? I don't know if she does, unfortunately.

I don't get what seems to be the issue? All I got from your post is "the process hung up". What does that mean?

Sorry, it means it sat with that on the screen for about 15 minutes with no feedback, and no exit prompt, nothing she can select. I'm having to assume that's not normal, which is why I asked.

She followed the guide, so launched "ds_ntrboot_flasher_dsi.nds", pressed A, Selected her card, pressed a, pressed a to inject, chose RETAIL, pressed a, and there you go.

If you need more information I can ask, but I need to know what you need to know, i guess.

    Is this a r4isdhc.com flashcart or a r4isdhc.com.cn/r4isdhc.hk flashcart?

Those are unsupported by ntrboot. Perhaps a flasher will be available in 2-3 weeks. But as it is right now, they are unsupported.
