for the memory stick what's the max capacity I can use ?

I understand I need to buy an official MSPD but do I need a fast speed or a standard MSPD is good ?

I haven't tried that, personally, but I don't see why it wouldn't work. If it doesn't, you can just demand a refund anyhow.

As for the memory stick, max I believe is 2gb for a MMS. The speed should not matter for the MMS either.

be careful about the MSPD though, i got my first 2gb but soon found out its fake coz i couldnt make a Magic Memory stick... That was a SanDisk.

Then i bought a Sony MSPD, its faster, and works perfect.

Mark 2 is fine, its just the newer line of the sticks, the speeds have increased a bit with the Mark 2's, I think.

Use the guide by ediblebird to make the MMS on your computer. That thread is updated all of the time, when something new comes up.

* TA086: when being in 4th brightness level and recovering from sleep mode, the display was black. Fixed.
* Added support in the 1.50 kernel for memory sticks greater than 4 GB. (I finally got my 8GB card!) Before, only the first 4 GB portion was recognized by the 1.5 kernel. Now, the theoretical limit is 4GB*512 = 2 Terabytes. ("only" 1 TB, if Sony were using signed variables).


With this kernel I can use the MSPD of any size no ???

If I understand first only 4gb of my card will be detected until I flash it and after I can use all the capacity ?

Can I do the magic stick with a 8Gb detected as 4 or I have to have a more little MSPD for flashing ?

Can you tell me why I can't use MSPD of more than 2Gb ?

I believe it is because sticks bigger than 2gb weren't originally supported, and this was only fixed in later versions of the firmware. Someone should be able to correct me, if this is not the case.

Yes, Dark Alex has fixed the Memory Stick capacity support of the CFWs i think in 3.80m33. Now its possible using 4gb and 8gb MSPDs, with Pandora or with playing backups and homebrew.
