Hardware Noob Question: Just bought a Save Dongle

I just bought a save dongle. I'm a total noob at this stuff, and wanted to backup and restore some game saves (especially Fire Emblem Awakening so that I could make more than 5 freaking files on there). I tested it on MK7 since I don't really care for that game ever since items screwed me over winning a tournament, but when testing to restore the game save, it said there "Send Data to Device fail." Also when trying to play it again, it said there was save corruption. Will this happen with Fire Emblem Awakening if I try to restore its game saves? Also, which games are compatible with both backing up and restoring game saves? Thanks in advance.
