Hardware Nintendo 3ds Fat32 sd card problem

In trying to move a 4 GB file, I have encountered an error. I looked it up and saw that for reasons that cannot be controlled, you cannot move a 4 GB file to a SD card(Pokemon sun rom). My question is, could i use another format(fat, ex fat, etc.) that allows movement of a 4 GB file and works with a 3ds? If not, could it be possible to split the file, move it, than combine it again?
