hi title says it all. I soft modded the wii so long ago i don't remember much, on top of that i believe the wii went through an update. The problems i am having is that im no longer able to play wii or gc back-ups or play any gc discs. The help i need is a general direction on how to diagnose what i f'ed up so i can find out how to fix it.

hello,

you have two solutions :
- check what you currently have, and see your possibilities from here
- softmod it again like if you never did before, using modmii (PC program that will provide a guide and all proper files to re-install to overwrite any previous softmod)

The first option has no issue and will not affect anything, so let's just try that. you can always continue with the second option instead of "adapting" your action based on the first option result.
look in my signature, there is a link to "syscheck". go there, and follow the guide.
post the result here.

It will list all the system file your Wii currently contains, with their version. with that result, we will give you new directions to follow.
