Hacking Need help asking New 3DS XL

My New 3DS XL firmware is 9.9.0-26u
I have R4i-SDHC RTS cards use it for New 3DS XL to play NDS game.
I did put V1.83b in the R4i, but the N3DS XL can not read, it said
"An error has occurred. Press and hold the Power Button to turn the system off. Please refer to the operations manual for detail"

Anyone know what is the problem?

That's the classic banned card message. Did you update the cards firmware? I don't mean copying the new software to it, but Really updating the firmware of the card. Needs to be done in a ds or dsi that can read the card.

No, I do not have ds or dsi. Is it need to use this two console to update the card firmware, since I do not have ds or dsi. Is there got another way to update the card firmware.
