You should also post a pic or 2 of your work, even if you think it is correct. I know it's a pain to take it apart again, but it's better than wasting money...

So tried more cheap card readers today I got of eBay. None which work unfortunately. On I bought looked like the recommended SanDisk micro USB reader and with a micro adapter directly to 3ds it make USB sound but always show as no media in disk manager. Will upload photos and list all card readers I have tried soon as the one that has been confirmed arrives

Be sure to NOT take the GND point near the power soket area because it could be a reason of a no detection of the console.

looks good to me. It really can only be the readers you are using, or your dat0 is shorted (kind of a tricky point so close to other traces...).

Edit: Actually looks good just meant the points on top were good points and not shorted, but... with the size of the pics, I am asking myself if you bothered to use flux and pre-tin the CLK point? It actually looks like I can see some gold color on it and that isn't possible with a PROPER joint.

always tin the points before you solder the wire. I'd swear that clk isn't tinned...

My goto reader for the 1.2gb nand is the ANKER AR200. I got a good read off of my 1.9gb nand with a vivitar 50-in-1 once before I permabricked it (got frustrated and pulled a pad :(. That was before I realized that using the power adapter ground was bad...

Redid all points with Flux and tinned. But all readers keep saying no media in disk manager. Get bsod 0400.
The GL3233 USB reader recognized the as drive once but format thing didn't show. Tried to read out but got a IO error and USB feels very hot.

The issue you have could provide from excessive lenght of your wires.
Reduce the lenght and you should get the signal.

Where did you get the micro SD ribbon cable? Does it fit snugly under the case?
Just go to aliexpress or ebay and search for fpc microsd or so.
Months ago i was thinking of using one of those to install it inside the n3dsxl and have the fpc microsd tip come out from the n3ds microsd slot hole and just have it resting there in that coin shaped space. No need for any case cutting or plugs, just remove battery cover, pop it into an sd adapter and good to go.
