Earlier today I was watching a DVD and then I thought the disc might've been scratched to stop but actually, the controller didn't work at all so next, I shut off the system and then booted up again.. Only to get that greasy red light.

All I'd ever use the 360 was to either watch DVDs or listen to music whilst play games (not too often) so I can't believe it's faulty. Even my NES, SNES, Dreamcast, PS3 60GB and so on still work perfectly!

Is there salvation?

What is your secondary error code?

How to get the Secondary error code

The specific type of hardware failure can be determined by a "hidden" error code

* Turn the xbox 360 on, and wait till the 3 red lights are flashing.
* Press and hold the sync up button (the small white one), while holding that button press the eject button.
* The LEDs will now blink the first number in the code (as described below).
* Release the eject button and press it again.
* The LEDs will now blink the second number of the code.
* Release the eject button and press it again.
* The LEDs will now blink the third number of the code.
* Release the eject button and press it again.
* The LEDs will now blink the forth number of the code.
* Release the eject button and press it again.
* The LEDs will go back to the 3 red flashing lights.
You should be able to determine the difference between the 3 flashing lights and the error code lights by the rate in which they flash.

Here is how you interpret the LEDs to get the code number:

* All four lights flashing - 0
* One light flashing - 1
* Two Lights flashing - 2
* Three lights flashing - 3

You will for example get an error code like 0102 if you get 4 lights after the first click, 1 after the second, 4 after the third and 2 after the fourth click of the eject button...

I just tried the following:
Removing the HDD - Didn't do anything
Vacuum the ventilation - Didn't do anything (to clean it out)
Turn on the controller and resync - Didn't do anything

The console shows one big red light and makes a weird noise like going back and forward which dead HDDs use to make. This 360 had a seizure like this before but this time around seems like I can't get it to work.

I did that and it popped up two:

First time - 4 lights
Second time - 1 light

Looked up a tutorial to fix the 360 but it didn't work.

It's likely that your PSU is faulty.
Worst case, there's a short circuit in your 360.

I'd say hook it up to a different PSU (borrow one from a friend or ask a local gamestore if you can test it there)
If it's still returning a RDOD, then it's a short circuit in the console.

Thanks for your help. Seems like it might be from the power brick as it makes that same weird nose the console does so it could be blocking from running properly? Not sure.

There's a game store nearby but I despise the staff members so will have to find another way.

0001 is either a short in the console or the PSU.
If the light of the PSU is red then it's deffo the PSU.
The light of the PSU goes from orange to green so it's an issue with the actual console? Damn. Will try to solve this because it shouldn't even have happened in the first place.

Watching a DVD, seriously, Xbox? sigh.
